Most games on Sega Megadrive....

But I think it's Crash Bandicoot 2 for me on PS1. When I was little I could ace it with my eyes closes. I even remember playing it in a bar in Portugal for some reason and teaching a local kid how to complete a level.

I tried playing it a couple of years ago and could not get past the first level :(

I do that all the time. I think its a patience and choice problem. Back when I was a kid, I played every game to death because I didn't have a huge amount to choose from. These days, if a game frustrates me for whatever reason, I move onto something else and most times rarely come back. As a kid I'd have been much more likely to push through and finish a difficult game.

Kind of makes me harken back to the days when I really appreciated every game I had. Even the shite ones.

Not for me. I almost always turn out better than I was. It just takes 10 or 15 minutes to get my momentum back.
Essentially this for every game I play.

P.S. Kingdom Hearts for the win.

P.S.S. If you didn't already know they announced a third one

There seem to be a lot of necros happening lately.
Anyway,
I tried playing the Hercules Action Game again and damn! I can't beat it, sure, but it's not exactly easy. Maybe I was some sort of genius child gamer who grew into a below-average teen gamer.

I ended up finding my old SNES Power Rangers game which I know I had beaten when I was 5. I tried playing it today (I'm 19 now) and I only just got through 3 levels.
Anyway, question is... Have you ever rediscovered an old game that you played to death as a kid and totally mastered... Only to pick it up now and fail more than anything?
The Bouncer. I must have been masochistic as a child, because I just don't have the patience for it anymore. Also, when I was younger, I actually finished battletoads on the sega (with a friend). I have trouble on the 2nd level nowadays.
I also had a friend who I could tank through Battletoads with! We were so pro, hah.
We played it on NES though, I didn't even know there was a Sega version!

I bet that kid never forgot you, haha. Reminds me of the time I was playing Super Mario at some holiday resort kids club thing, and having all the kids awestruck at how good I was xD

Donkey Kong Country, and Dynamite Headdy (or however you spell that). I used to be great at those games, now I'm lucky to get through a couple levels (in later worlds, of DKC, the first couple worlds are still rather easy...sort of) without getting curbstomped.

Oh god... Dynamite Headdy. used to be one of my favourite Sega Games, but that bit with the boss that switches heads and chases you... I died so many times on that boss.
These days I need the save anywhere system that the sega mega collection on ps3 has to finish that game. I used to be great at it. Such an original, irreverent little game, and that fucking cat... >.<

I find DCK pretty easy. They second one I've always struggled with.
Especially the level 'Bramble Blast'. I swear I was on the verge of tears of frustration when I was younger.

Yep. King of Fighters Howling Wolf EX2, I believe. Played through it, beat the final boss as every team multiple times, now I can't even get past the first level.

Yeah, like some others, it's the opposite for me.

I can CRUSH Mega Man 1 and 2 in my sleep now, but in my long ago youth, I couldn't even beat a single robot master.

Granted, I was like, 7, but that's no excuse. I just trained up on my gamin' for about 23 years. Mostly listening to "You're the best...aroooound!", a song scientifically proven to improve training and training montages by at least 5000%.

Good times.
