I was 3 when my uncle brought me a Sega Mega Drive II with Demolition Man [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demolition_Man_%28video_game%29]. Good times.

Sonic the Hedgehog for the Game Gear was the first game I played, but the console wasn't mine..

Couple of years later I convinced my parents (EPIC WIN) to buy me a PS1, and it came with Gran Turismo 1, there began my love for racing simulators

Although the game that made me a true gamer was Final fantasy 9.. I played it soooooo much :)
I still do!

I don't even remember. Something on an old Apple 2e. I think it was a racing game, but I'm not sure.

If I'm remembering correctly, it was when I was three, and my cool, tall, then-ten-year-old big sister had invited her cool, tall, then-ten-year-old friends over for New Years Eve just to stay down in the basement for hours playing games on the computer (whom we keep in fond memory.)They were playing Doom 3, and I spent the whole time staring at the shooting and the blood getting all over everything, utterly transfixed and desperately begging them for a turn. When they finally relented, I took the controls and sucked at it, of course (remember I was three.) At one point, I managed to remember where the shoot button was in time, and I killed somebody! When all of the big kids started cheering for me, I got so excited and proud of myself I stood up on the chair and crowed (I was quickly shushed so that our parents didn't know their three-year-old kid was learning how to blow people's limbs off with a shotgun.)
Eleven years later, I STILL get embarrassingly engrossed in the game when I graphically kill a guy on a screen by pushing a button.

I lost my virginity to Ms. Pacman at the tender age of 7 with the help of Philips Videopac G7000. Nowadays that would be a big no-no, but in the 70's you could get away with lot of things.

Yes, this thread is as geeky as it sounds. I was just wondering what games were peoples first introduction into the bright, fantastic and sometimes kinda sad, but in an accetpable way, world of gaming.

For myself I was a late bloomer and was about 7 when I first played on what I consider a proper game, i.e. one that has levels and not just adding numbers, and that was Yoshi's Island on the SNES; which I still consider to this day one of the best games ever.
My father offered me a NES with Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, 20 years ago. My innocence was forever lost. And since my best friend next door had an Atari 2600, my cousin had just bought a C64, and my best friend class mate also bought a Spectrum, we were all on for long afternoons on errr... school projects/homework... NOT! My father would get pissed with me, but after my mothers favourite soap opera would be over and I was sent to bed as it was my time, my father and my sister (she is older and almost and adult) would go on 2 player games and matches till very late hours.

Sonic and Tails on my Sega Genensis was first. Later my mom bought me a Gameboy Color with Disney's Hercules, Tetris Attack and Killer Instinct. After that came Crash Bandicoot Warped, Spyro the Dragon and Final Fantasy VIII.

All those games are the reason I'm the gamer I am now.

Ghosts and Goblins for the NES. Apparantly, I was so young, I cannot remember that being the first game I have played. The earliest memory of the first game I have played... well its hazy, but I think it was the original super mario bros for the NES.

The very first game I remember playing was Banjo-Kazooie for the N64 and it was fucking amazing. I am probably going to end up reviewing that game once I feel my skills are good enough to portray it's true worth.

Other games I grew up playing include; Perfect Dark, 007 Goldeneye, Pokemon puzzle legue, Pokemon stadium, Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of time and by far the best RPG I have EVER played: Legend of Dragoon. (say what you want about it being a FF7 clone but hey, FF7 was good but I like plot, gameplay and overall setting better)

5 years old. My cousin introduced to me the joys of the PS1. I then played Metal Slug. Next was the PC. Knights of the Temple and Warcraft and Starcraft. I sucked.

I was 5 years old, on Christmas day I unwraped a copy of 'Super Mario 64' and I was wondering why I had unwrapped this game when we didnt have a N64...I asked mum and she said 'follow me'...so I did and she unveiled the N64 already hooked up to the tv! (there was a cloth covering it)

needless to say...I pretty much did this...
