This looks pretty extensive.
Thanks, though

Okay, well, so far, I've managed to find that "meleth" is love (but it's apparently pronounced "mehl"), "le" is you, and "im" is I. Give me some time to figure out how to put that together...ShredHexus said:I thought it would be cute to leave her a little message in the tongue, but I can't seem to make any sense of the dictionaries I've found online.
Wait...that was "mel'lon." And it meant "friend," not "open."ShredHexus said:It's the password into Moria, but I thought they mentioned it was made by elves, or was old elven magic from when elves and dwarves got along.Silva said:Except that's Dwarven, not Sindarin. As the dialogue - in the films, at least - said. No clue if it's the same in the book or not. Probably is.ShredHexus said:Bel'lon, or something like that, was it not?S.R.S. said:Are you thinking what I'm thinking B2?ShredHexus said:I thought it would be cute to leave her a little message in the tongue
OT: All I know is how to say "open". Which I guess has it's uses... if you know what I mean.
The english-sindarin side of this one is actually helping, I'm piecing it togetherSilva said:http://www.killermovies.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-299972-sindarin-thread.html
This one is also good, I think, for saying something more complex.
I just looked up the movie dialogue, and you're right. They said "Elvish". Which is odd, I still remember it differently in execution. But I'm not finding my DVD just to check that the movie had a screw-up.ShredHexus said:It's the password into Moria, but I thought they mentioned it was made by elves, or was old elven magic from when elves and dwarves got along.Silva said:Except that's Dwarven, not Sindarin. Glad to help. It only took a few seconds' Googling. Your piecing it together will be the real contribution, due to the disagreements between sources here. I'd suggest asking anyone who might know Sindarin that you know personally as well, because the web is sometimes unreliable about language.ShredHexus said:The english-sindarin side of this one is actually helping, I'm piecing it togetherSilva said:http://www.killermovies.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-299972-sindarin-thread.html

My bad. I guess i'm the only one who wants a woman thats been around the block a few times, instead of a nice sweet girl who learns elvish in her spare time.Z(ombie)fan said:ELABORATE YOUR THOUGHTWAYS.RewardMe said:Your girlfriend sounds like a geek. Dump her, and go out with her younger sister.

Dude, calm down. She's not a complete nut, she's just having a LOTR phase at the moment and I thought this would be neat to do. Hehe, i was considering putting a smily face on the end of that post but decided against it. Don't take my comments serious, mate. I meant them in a half jokingly way. No offence meant.ShredHexus said:Dude, calm down. She's not a complete nut, she's just having a LOTR phase at the moment and I thought this would be neat to do.
