Personal preference. I had trouble playing Call of Duty at first, but I eventually got used to it and was able to find my target easily. Play on a higher sensitivity, learn it. Reflexes, map knowledge, familiarity of controls, and just being able to center your crosshairs on a target quickly really help a lot.
Me? I tried playing a first person shooter at a friend's house and I found it extremely awkward and difficult to play. It was just so frustrating and felt so foreign/alien to me that I didn't want to practice to get used to it, I just didn't want to touch it again...
