The title says it all. Do you charge in there with your cholorform rag or do you sit back and observe until its the right time. I can't give an answer because the only relationship I've been in started with her asking me out...

So...ya. How do you ask someone to a date?
On a date? Or to start a relationship?

Here, I will right a simple program for you. Execute this and you will get many women.
}
If(on a date){
human.speech("Do you want to " + + " on " + + "?");
}

else if(starting relationship){
human.speech("Do you want to go out with me?");
}
}
There is absolutely no way how to explain how cool this post is.

OT: "Hey, you wanna go out?"

I just said this in another thread but who cares I will say it again.

The problem with upfront is that unless you have been obviously flirting with her it will be a surprise, and when surprised with offers people reject them out of habit.

So I ease into it.

Hey whats up?

so I heard about this cool concert going on at Nathan Philips square...

Hey we should go to that concert.

Girls aren't stupid. Unless I'm in the friends zone she knows what I just did. But if it is a big thing (i.e. will you go out with me) she WILL get nervous and will probably say no.

EDIT: Avoid the movie date. 2 hours of sitting next to each and saying nothing isn't the best idea.

Hi, my name is Aylaine! Will you go out with me?
As I've said before, I soooooooo wish I was brave enough to do that. And I'm kinda ashamed that I can't. One of the points of the Scout Law is Brave.

OT: It usually takes me a while and it's always along the lines of "Uhhh, hey, I was wondering if, ummmm, you'd like to...get together for a movie sometime."

Yes, I am very shy around women I like. Well, that's not 100% true. I can talk to them about anything...except the fact that I like them.

I usually go with:
"Hi, can I have a hug?"
Nearly everytime they'll hug me, we talk for about half-an-hour to an hour and then if I feel like it I'll ask for a number.

I used to say "Hey, wanna see a movie?" But going to the theaters these days is just torture for two. I don't want to pay money to sit through hell & eat bad food in a place where I can't talk.

Now adays I'd say something like "Tonight you & me are gonna get drunk & go golfing." & yes, being drunk at a miniature golf corse is awesome, especially if there are a lot of you & the soberest one has a video camera.

Well, there are two main ways.

1. Just be upfront.
2. Does this rag smell like chloroform to you? Then proceed to do whatever you wish.

Good luck.

Me: Hey *Girl Name Here*!
Girl: Hey!
Me: Hey, you wanna go out sometime?
Girl: You mean like a date?
Me: Do you want it to be?

After that it can go anywhere, but that right there is always a good set up. Just invite her to a movie, or a carnival, something along those lines. Something informal that is fun regardless if you have any romance going. From my experience a school dance is not the place to start out, but that may be because I don't dance.

OT: I talk to the girl and just talk about what she does, explaining what I do, what my favorite hobbies are, etc. Not invasive just curious. If there is interest, I ask if she wants to hang out. If there is none at all, I just continue the conversation until I have an reason to leave. (Unless she's being really judgmental. If that happens I just turn away or leave.)

Being a student and a huge commuter my only time to flirt is on the bus.

Well, I saw this in a movie once but I'm thinking about trying it out...
Turns out that the embedding was disabled, so watch it here:

In all seriousness, never actually asked a girl out, I'm pretty hopeless. When I find that right moment, I'd probably be straight forward and just ask if she wanted to see a movie or something.

My pickup line is "Hi." Best one ever. As for the actual question, I don't say "do you want to ..." I say "we should ..." Keep it casual.

I still haven't really worked out a specific strategy that I stick with, but it often revolves around asking a girl what she's up to over the next few days, before asking if I could occupy any of her free time in some manner or another. Pretty standard.

Hell, if I know... I've only ever legitimately asked out one girl before... I got turned down, of course...<.<
