Me, I would play the last installment of that game franchise again.
If it's the first of its kind, a new IP, I'd drool myself to sleep.

How's about you?

Ignore it until it goes away.

I know the sort of thing I'm looking for in a game, so if I see something that fits that description, I'll give it a go. Personally, I'm not interested in the hype of titles - all I want is the general gist. Maybe it's because I work in the games industry, but I couldn't give a monkeys about the build up. I don't want spoilers in advance.

Besides, how many games reviewers will have the same opinions as me? They might hate a game that I think is awesome.

A rough idea of what reviewers think isn't a bad thing, but at the end of the day I'll judge a game on it's own merits, against my personal criteria.

Yeah, I don't tend to let the hype get me worked up; all hype does it build up hopes for games that are ultimately decent, but are, at the end of the day, just GAMES! Hype has us feeling that every aspect of the game is going to revolutionaize gaming as we know it; next thing you know, a year and a half later, we're playing the game and once the thick hype coating wears off, the flaws seem to ooze from every pore.

Naw, even games I AM looking forward to, I don't bother with every new screenshot, web article, speculative forum banter, etc. I just wait patiently, and when it drops, I'm new to the whole experience and the only expectation I have is to have fun.

For the most part, just ignore it. The majority of games that receive the most hype aren't games that I would play anyway, so I wouldn't be getting excited either way.

I will admit that I occasionally get caught up in the hype for a game, but on the rare instances that has happened, the game has lived up to it for me. But again, that might be because I don't get so into the hype that I think the game is going to be the greatest, most revolutionary iteration of a game ever to exist. If I get caught up in hype, I think the game is going to be pretty damn good, and that's as far as I'll go.

I don't get hyped for games, I try to avoid that as much as I can.

The last game I got hyped up for was Spore and that didn't turn out very well...

I don't. I let the hype psych me into playing a game and I often try to play the prior iterations of it prior to my purchase in order to re-familiarize myself with the story.

I'm fully aware that I'll be over hyped and spoiled on non-key elements of a game by the time I play it myself. This doesn't ruin my experience because I know how it works from history past. Those extremely rare titles that exceed the hype are a wonderful surprise though.

When I buy old games (such as C&C 3) from the last Steam sale...I try to hype myself up for it by watching the game review online and teaser trailers before playing the actual game. This all lends to better experience when I first play it because it suddenly 'feels' new rather than several years old.
