I just found out that I'm failing math and with only a week left in the quarter there's little to no way that I'm going to pass semester. Feels bad, man. It'll be the first time I've failed a class ever and I feel as though my world is ending, but I'll be fine, as my disappointment is slowing going away due to a weekend full of brooding. But what I want to know is how you deal with major disappointment. Do you just get over it immediately? Do you need a couple days to deal with it like me? You have certain things you do to release the stress like drinking, playing games, etc? I want to know.

Whenever I'm disappointed, I slaughter baby seals with my bare hands.
I used to do that, but then I realized that baseball bats are much more satisfying. And hurt your hands less.

Well, get it over in my mind that there's nothing I can do about it now (assuming there isn't). Then do stuff I enjoy doing video games, tv, reading, listening to music. Now that I think about it, it's really just my daily routine.

accept the disappointment, make it your own, learn from it. trust me i've failed my share of classes they hurt at first but give it a week and you feel fine. just remember theres always a chance to redeem your mistakes

unless your in college in which case i hope you can afford to retake your mistakes lol

Op, I usually just live out the disappointment, or I watch LoadingReadyRun. They're on this site, try 'em out. They're funny~ (Translation: Laughter cheers me up)

I think over how I'm going to deal with it. I ponder how I can make the outcome as stress free as possible.

I just discovered that a guy I've had a massive crush on for around 3 months, and was going to finally ask out on Friday has a boyfriend (bisexual dude talking here), when I'm faced with disappointment like that the best thing I can think to do is play this song, crank up the volume, and rip off the knob...

Drinking tends to be an unhealthy way to react to disappointment, but most of these serious responses are good ones. I'm sorry that you're failing a class, but it should be something of a learning experience for you. I hope you get to feeling better, and if you need anything, just PM me. Have a great day/nightcycle!

Damn right son. I'm tempted to add Homestuck to the list to complete the cycle.

I play video games to deal with disappointment and depression.
I always play video games.

Dorf Fort however...does not help with either.
I'm more depressed after playing dwarf fortress.

Sing with me, I just had se-. Seriously though, accept it like a man. Alternatively, you can numb yourself with drugs and T.V.

I spank it, take a shower, and play some poker. Note: not intended to be a factual statement.

Actually, I just look ahead at what other things I can focus on that haven't recently disappointed me, and I concentrate on those things. There's no sense dwelling on something you can't do anything about any more.

Thanks for the consideration, but I'm fine. Like I said it took me a few days but I've accepted it.

I self-hate for a bit, then just go with the flow. Screwing up sucks really badly, but hating yourself for too long is just unproductive.

I'm in a VERY similar pickle. I'm at university and I'm ALREADY in conditional standing (meaning if I screw up much more, they will kick me out for a year).

I already had one final and I'm not sure how well I did. And the I have another final on friday for a course that I HATE. Also, the university told me that I need to pass that particular one with a C- or better, or they will kick me out for a year. ...And I'm REAAAALLY not !@#$ing confident in it. I'm redoing past assignments and I'm doing poorly. >_< I've already accepted that I'm probably going to get chucked out for a year. But I'm still trying. No point in crying or totally giving up, I have to write that mother!@#$ing final anyway. Might as well TRY to pass this BS course.

Depends. If it's a REALLY big disappointment, I might cry, and I might even hit my legs if it gnaws at me so much. I tend to punch my thighs whenever I'm extremely upset.
I beat myself up over it. *Ba-dum-TISH!*

You ever get a hit so good that you can feel the residual vibrations all the way to your shoulders? It's the best. Just... aaahhhh. [http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/photos/images/original/000/119/924/sweetjesus.jpg?1318992465] Try and crack one off the skull, that's where you feel it most.

Anyway, I suppose it depends with how much I've invested into it. Like, when I saw Scott Pilgrim, I watched it for free and only really to see what the fuss was about. I expected it to be great, but it wasn't, and that's okay. Whatever.
Inception, I paid money to see it in theatres and expected it to blow my mind, only to find out that the part people found confusing was really just the layered narratives, and for fuck's sake. Still a good movie, but I was a little soured to it.
Halo Reach, oh balls. I spent months on B.net, hit up the forums, watched every trailer's analysis, ditched school to get in the beta, spent 65 dollars on it (pre-order, obviously) and then hated the fuckin' game. I'm still a little sore about it.
