How do you dive in?

So you're on a cliff and have leapt off into the water for some reason (could be for heroic reasons or whatever you want). The drop is ridiculous, like 3 Empire State buildings.

What sort of dive do you do into the water?

I would scream girlishly while spinning around in the air and probably belly flop. I never learned how to dive :(.

Land feet first and hit the water as straight as possible. After I hit, try to scoop yourself forwards to slow down. Never dive headfirst unless you know how deep the water is. Better broken legs than a broken skull.

I'd probably do standard feet-first-y sort of thing before slowing down as quickly as possible when I reach the water. That's partly because I don't know how deep the water is, and partly because diving head first from a cliff would be terrifying (and extremely dangerous).

Well I suppose I would try to do a flip, as I don't want to disappoint anyone.

Realistically, I would probably just lower myself down as far as I could and then let myself fall the rest of the way, nothing fancy.

If I have to jump, probably a basic jump followed by the falling/nothing fancy part.

3 Empire State Buildings tall?!
Screw that man, I'll just go with the fetal thing listed above until somebody forcefully pushes me off.

From anything higher than 7 meters i would jump, land feet first, instead of diving..

And pro divers says its easier to nail a good landing if you actually do a sommersault/flip instead of trying to just fall straight..

So i would probably try that, a sommersault, land face first, knock the air out of me, then drown..

Highest dive i've done is from 7 meters, jump is 12 meters.. Also done a 40 meter free drop at a carneval.. That was insane! People looked like ants from up there..|

I would try to make as big a splash as possible. Most any height above 50ft or so can be rather lethal unless special precautions can be taken, so I would just try to make the biggest wave I could.

Heroics be damned, I'm going in cannonball!

You break your legs jumping into a body of water, you're as good as fucked anyway.

I also vaguely remember that a drop from that high into a body of water, any body, has been scientifically demonstrated to be the equivilent of dropping onto a body of solid concrete. So i'd probably be flipping the fuck out doing flips and flailing about the whole way down.

Several front flips, a bit of a spin, then drop in feet first, whilst performing the photo pose made famous by Barney Stinson (and yes, I will be wearing a suit).

If I'm going out like that, I'm going in style. If I somehow survive, I'm surviving in style!

Well I would lie back, relax and enjoy the last few seconds of my life because when I hit the water from that height, I will probably die.

Feet first, hands crossed on chest... considering the length i have to drop, create as much resistance as i can to reduce the amount of speed like sky diving before straightening out for the impact, maybe a little aero-acrobatics as well :)

3 empire state buildings? I climb down the cliff for as long as possible, hopefully find a cave at some point, or somewhere I can sit and rest it off, then climb some more, until it turns into a jump that wouldn't kill me. Then I jump, arms spread to slow my fall, and at the last ten-twenty feet I push my feet down and go in as straight as possible. Probably still dead, but at least I tried to live.

Pin dive works, flying kick into water, cannonball, forward flip... All works for me.

I'm dead anyway, so make the most of it right?

On a more serious note... just pindrop. MIGHT survive.

Fear of heights here, jumping from three Empire State Buildings high would probably knock me out before I hit the water.

Doesn't matter what position I'm in, a fall into water from that height is fatal. Not just fatal, but limb tearingly fatal.

I;m pretty sure you would die nomatter what position you try. But I'd do a Cannon-ball because i would make the biggest splash the world has ever known from that height.
