1. I shoot it with an arrow until it's good distance close to me--enough to take my battleaxe without and still strike first. After that, I use the unrelenting force shout and push him against the wall so that he's fallen, then continue to hit it with my axe until it dies.

2. I charge in, hit the weakest ones with regular attacks so that I don't waste stamina. If the rest are stronger, I get to those with power attacks--if they're close together, an axe swipe will do--then a shout to push them all away and attack them one by one.

3. Unrelenting Force on whichever is closest, then I take on whatever is coming next with my axe. The ice wraiths aren't much a problem to me.

You are sneaking around in a fortress, trying to get the stealth bonus on a particularly tough bandit. Just as you are about to strike, one of the bandits sees you and all 12+ bandits in the fortress are alerted to your presence. Your escape route is cut off, and you are in a medium sized room with 2 ways out. The tough bandit you were about to strike down turns and attacks you right away, and you see the other 2 bandits in the room are a mage and an archer.

4. (Has done this before)--Power strike the intended target and kill it. Then--I feel like I use Unrelenting Force too much--I use Unrelenting Force to push everyone away and I go for the mage; then I kill the archer while he's switching weapons. After, I swing my axe into the room with all the rest of the bandits and see who dies first.

Well I'll be answering from the points of view of 3 characters, being:
Sandalphon: lvl 34 Altmer Destruction/Conjuration Master!
Glaive: lvl 20? Orc werewolf Sword/board with heavy armor and smithing.
Valefar: lvl 1 khajiit. Going to be assassin once i start playing her.

Situation #1
Sandalphon: novice firebolt dual casted with impact. Fucker never gets close ^_^.
Glaive: Berserker rage and chop shit up. Maybe try without the rage...might be able to live it now
Valefar: You KIDDING ME? i just got out of Helgen! cya cuz i gtfo!

Situation #2
Sandalphon: Pop two dremora lords (yes i can do that) up on the platform/whatever they're on and walk away. If there's a door i came in through, i close it. Wait for about a minute or so and presto! Instant cleared room! Either that or fireball everything...
Glaive: Pick target, insert sword, wash rinse repeat. My armor can take it as long as they're not to meaty.
Valefar: Sneaky sneaky and pray to the nine...yes i said nine! You Thalmor can go fuck yourselves!

Situation #3
Possible answer to all: Die. No seriously...our most common deaths come from getting jumped after a fight. Assuming we survive, read the following:
Sandalphon: POTS! Pots and Highborn if i needed. Otherwise POTS!
Glaive: See above but insert werewolf and berserker in place of highborn.
Valefar: I lived? Bullshit.

Situation #4
Sandalphon: You kidding me? I almost singlehandedly slaughtered entire forts of Imperials in the civil war! I barely even notices the stormcloak insects behind me! You honestly think that your pitiful 12 bandits will stand any chance against me? Double summon and Dual casts for days, *****!
Glaive: Berserking werewolf. Need i say more? Ahh, there's no kill like overkill...
Valefar: Well fuck...*dies*

1. 100 yards? Should be enough distance to blast him away with my Fireballs.

2. My fire mage loves a crowd, the more the better.

3. Chew down a handful of potions, throw them away with my shout for some distance and begin dancing around the stupid AI until they die.

4. With my stone power giving me 50% spell absorb and into, I keep the mage alive and continuously throw fireball after fireball at the bandits. Then I turn on the mage, as he desperately try to hold a ward up against my onslaught of spells, I blast him to bits.

Destruction is so good! And that stone is overpowered if anything =P

Seriously. That 15x bonus is too good to ignore.

You kinda missed his point... he was asking how you would deal with certain situations, some of which do not allow for stealth.

Personally I find multiple opponents challenging even with a melee/shield guy... so I can't imagine how tough it must be taking on a room full of Electromancers and Fire Wizards as a light armour sneak char.
No, really, every situation allows for stealth kills. The hiding mechanics are weird enough to allow it...

To answer all of the questions, here's what I'm probably going to do in Skyrim:

Step 1: cast defense buff with alteration
Step 2: slice mob with sword
Step 3: Use restoration or potion to heal (with the latter mostly used for magicka)
Step 4: FUS ROH DAH!
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit

Maybe add a Step 1 1/2 in the form of pulling with a bow or destruction spell if I have the appropriate tools &\or skill point investments

Well then, in that case my next character is going to be a sneaky one. I was wary about it after how messy sneaking was in Oblivion

Pretty much the same here. Bow and arrows for the win, with occasional uses of enchanted daggers with 15 points of frost damage each. Don't ignore Conjuration just because you're playing a rogue, you're denying yourself the opportunity to create fairly efficient entry-level gear, or to inflate the price of an already valuable item by slapping a strong enchantment on top of it.

I usually try to have one filled Soul Gem with me at all times, of the biggest size I can manage. Petty Soul Gems are practically useless, except if you're trying to enchant a piece of jewellery with a persistent effect.

Oh, it's still messy. It's just that once you get to a high sneak level the mess is very heavily weighted in your favour.

In a dungeon I'll usually be stealthy at first, get as much damage in as possible, then use shouts, a one handed sword and a shield for most enemies. When I come up against more powerful enemies I'll fall back and summon a flame atronach. This combined with my usual combat strategy works against most enemies. If I really can't kill it, I'll use the beast form power, turn into a werewolf and kill them like that.

Step 1. Run away

Step 2. Summon Dremora Lord

Step 3. Watch Dremora rape everything in sight.

Step 4. ???

Step 5. Profit.

Depends, if I know I'm more powerful than foes I'll just wade in. Otherwise I apply paralysis poison to my axe. Hit once then chop them up while they lay on the floor not doing anything. You know, like a real man.

I'll choose the 12+ bandits scenario. I am a Redguard single hand blade specialist with perks in blocking and destruction and an enchanted and upgraded falmer sword that does 10 fire damage. I also have a companion who I've equipped with a warhammer.

1. Fire as many arrows as I can before anyone gets close
1. Cast Adrenaline Rush(ridiculous stamina recharge) and eat a ton of vegetable stew/soup
2. Position myself so no one is behind me. Poison sword
3. Wait for companion to smash someone with the hammer (they usually keel over)
4. Run up blasting flames with my left hand and power swinging at the incapacitated foe. I always attack whoever my companion is attacking. Thin the herd fast and you take less damage.
5. When I run out of magic I switch to shield and start shield bash/sword smash.
6. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

The combination of adrenaline rush+shieldbash/sword smash and companion warhammer makes it hard for bandits to ever stand up. It's sort of brutal actually

Fire arrows at enemies until they are close enough to be run through by my sword.

Unfortunately I have a bad habit of forgetting about shouts until after i've killed everyone, then i'am all "That could have been easier if i had shouted :\"

You come across a giant on a highway. He sees you, but does not attack you since you are about 100 yards away. He WILL attack you if you get close, but you can both go on your merry way without having to engage in hostilities.

Unless there is a high-ish cliff to climb where I can pick him off with magic and arrows, I'll avoid him. My husband's Redguard chara still get bounced 50 ft in the air by giants.

You are in a crypt where you can hear several undead walking around near you. You know there are at least 2, but there could be 5 for as well as you know. You do not know the type of undead, or how tough they are, just that they are undead (since that is all you have encountered thus far). You enter the room they are in, and see they have the elevation advantage, but have not detected you yet.

I will observe them in sneak mode. Get as close, count the enemy. Pop up, do a shout to stagger them, go in with a power attack with my sword. Now for the fun, I herd and circle with Fire, shout, go in and attack. Keeping circling and repeat process until I'm down to two.

Having just killed a challenging dragon, your health and magick is low. You stand still for a couple seconds waiting for your mana to replenish itself so you can heal, but are attacked by a frost mountain cat and 2 ice wraiths.

CONJURE AND RUN!

Go for the attack, shout, conjure, then use same herd with flames and strike tactic as before, but I will focus on the mage first, tough bandit, archer.

And I forgot, poison my blade.
