Anime World Order
It's my favorite podcast, and their recommendations usually go right along with my personal tastes. They usually only review older anime and manga (3+ years), but it's not like "newer"="better" when it comes to anime.

A combination of amv's, recommendations, and whatever I just happen upon. Plus checking new shows each new season and seeing what's good. It's nice to get some weekly running shows mixed with backlogged stuff.

I use realitylapse. For 20$ I have six months to download whatever the hell I want. I just download an episode, preview, and if I like it, download the rest. *Gestures at both 1TB hard-drives* Yeah, I tend to like almost anything.

TvTropes (also how I find webcomics and some older games), forum topics, and the fact that my roommate occasionally suffers from anime fever and has a Netflix streaming account linked to his Xbox in the common room.

Forums and My Anime List (although I don't use it). I like to stay away from most the community though.

I have several ways of finding new anime to watch.

1.Go onto a legal anime streaming sites (such as funimation) and just pick one at random.

2.Suggestions from friends.

3.Some of the anime dvds I own contain trailers for other animes.

4.I come across the opening theme or other clips by accident on youtube. (I've found most anime using this method, I tend to think, "Hmm that's a pretty catchy opening, I might look into that show.)

I wrote a new topic in response to this:

It boils down to anime sucks. Read manga.

Every season that comes along, I find one of these in one place or another.

I pick six or seven that have interesting descriptions or aesthetics if I can find it on a legal streaming website, and drop the ones I don't like by episode 4.

I go back over ones I didn't pick up if I hear enough good things about it.

It has yet to fail me.

Except it doesn't. and manga is harder to multi-task, therefore anime wins.

There's a new season every... season. Usually the major blogs have a list sometime before the season begins and I usually pick from that list.

I check blogs, Random Curiosity, Kurogane, Blogsuki, and occasionally Star Crossed and ANN.

Anime News Network. Any time I hear about a new series I check up on it there for a basemark of genre and votes.

100% word of mouth. My friends suggest things, I give them a try. So far only 1 over the past decade has held my attention from start to finish.

I rarely hear about anime through word of mouth or post of text. I frequent sites with many animes on them line animeseason.com or animefreak.tv or crunchyroll.com or anime44.com and if I see something on the front page the interests me, then I check it out. Many of those sites also have advanced search options. Animeseason.com has a filter to select what genres you want to show up and only anime that fit into those categories show up. I rarely get into an anime by seeing it as an AMV. That's only happen to me with soul eater. (The amv was Soul Eater Kid Power btw if you wanna search it up). Sometimes going down the anime list a name might intrigue me and I'll check it out.
