Well, after 11 months, me and my girlfriend have broken up. Not going into details, but other than beer, jazz and hitting stuff, how do you handle a break up? I'm sure that there are quite a few comical ways, and quite a few sombering ways.
Well since i've never dated a girl before im gonna do something a bit different... a prediction.
My prediction: Badly, beer or cider may be involved and maybe some Iron Maiden.
Never really been dumped. My few relationships I've broke myself were ones I didn't care about anymore. But when I fall out with my current girlfriend, who I feel for like no one I ever have, I take it terribly. Everything just stops. Nothing else matters. Nothing.
Find yourself something to keep you occupied, even if it's trivial and pointless. The biggest problem a lot of people face is that they are so used to spending their time with that person that when they try and do things alone they either feel out of place or simply have everything remind them of their ex.
Get a new hobby, game, book or whatever and just try and get used to not having them be around all the time. Just do things for yourself to make you happy.
Eh, I try to do a marathon of violent video games and films. Then right after I pick the funniest animated films I know (that is to say Toy Story, Treasure Planet and Monsters Inc. since none of them have relationships like Toy Story 2 and WALL-E). I do all this with friends while bitching about how terrible my Ex was.
Normally though I go on anyway since its fine when I break up with my girlfriends. It doesn't matter all that much to me most of the time. Plus I remain friends with my Ex so I just talk with them so everything is fine.
Seven stages of loss style....and if the relationship ment something to me, it kinda leaves a lasting scar that effects how I see the world. I learn new things, think in new ways...and most of the time the world doesn't seem as innocently good.
I lash out quite a bit actually.
It certainly helps you grow...just as much as the initial stages of a relationship.
