How do you manage Fallout 3 on Very Hard?

Bah, Very Hard was still too easy for me, so I decided to beat the entire game with the only weapon being my fists, and not even that was enought to satisfy my bloodthirst apparently.
Had some trouble when enemies happened to be in unreachable places (am looking at you, stupid sewer escape from Water Putrefecator), but overall, it was still ridiculously easy.

Oh, here's something for those of you looking for moar insane fun: write this in the console.

player.setav unarmeddamage 200
player.setav health 1500
player.setav damageresist 85

I don't think I need to explain it :D

Play Stalker Complete 2009 for SOC on Master. Fallout 3 will always be easy, because the controls don't allow for a lot of strategy. Combat is very simplistic.

I tend to get raped by Albino Radscorpions and Deathclaws on Very Hard...

I left it on normal, because I didn't want to get to 20, well 30 now too fast.
Did something similar in Oblivion: got to level 100 sneak, no joke, when I myself was only at level one

...normal tactics, Shotguns, Lasers, Grenades, I just bring a barrack's worth of ammo to the fight

Use the Chinese Stealthsuit with Jingwei's Shocksword, a maxed out stealth skill and the ninja perk and you'll be nearly unstopable.

Try playing the entire game on very hard. A radscorpion will make you shit yourself when all you've got is a baseball bat and a 10mm pistol.

Well I like playing on normal. Actually I'd probably prefer fallout 3 if I could do less killing. The combat was the least interesting part of that game.

I disagree.... Bethesda's difficulty raising technique just makes baddies into tanks and means more repetitive whacking/blasting. I love F3, it's my fave game, but it's fine on normal.

Very hard in F3 and Oblivion is just boring.

And I don't want more experience either, as you level up too fast in Fallout 3, even with Broken Steel.
After playing it for a few hours today, I think you're right. It didn't feel much fun at all, and it sure was annoying that most of the enemies suddenly had ridiculous amounts of health and took forever to kill.

But what's wrong with leveling faster? For me it means gaining my desired skill points and perks a lot faster, so yeah I'll take all the experience I can get.

Stop talking about fallout 3! i dont wanna play it again because those damn radscorpians freak me the fuck out, but your making me want to play it anyway! But its not mucha challenge when you have godmode on anyway.

EDIT: can someone recommend me some mods to either remove the radscorps, or make them not scarey looking?
The Rad Scorpions were okay.. The ants and roaches, however..

I wonder if New Vegas will have something like this.. Hope not.

OT: Without mods? Oh come on, you don't play Bethesda without mods. You could tie yourself up though, say not using any healing items, only pistols, that kind of thing. Will limit the 'experience' though.

FOOK2 and Wanderers Edition make the game pretty tough even on Normal enemy difficulties. Honestly, if you're looking for a challenge, do that.

It is depressingly easy. The hardest part is when you first come out of the Vault and your kind of like SHIT RADSCORPION!!!! with zero weapons to kill them. But as soon as you get to about...level 6 or so, it's pretty simple.
The only other bit that I got a little stuck on was Mothership Zeta. It was all ok, apart from the Aliens with the force fields on their suits...they just took a hell of a beating.

The only thing that changes in terms of difficulty is damage rates, enemy armor modification and enemy health levels. The tiers work perfectly fine in Fallout 3. In Oblivion, if you maxed the difficulty slider it often took several minutes to kill things as you really don't do any damage at all.

Of course, it should be noted that if you actually want a harder experience and you play on PC, install both Mart's Mutant Mod (set to increased increased spawns AND feral ghoul invasion) and FWE. It's actually easier to kill enemies with FWE but you're also much more fragile. Combine that with the sudden scarcity of ammunition and the game can become frustratingly punishing at times.

How you make fallout 3 on very hard:

Right option: be carefull about your stats, get good gear quick, use V.A.T.S and generally play good!

Wrong opinion: Controll commands: Toogle God mode!
