Mostly not at all as long as I'm able to understand that it is me they are talkink about.
Also Karlén is a ***** to pronounce if you're a native english speaker, even I can't pronounce it any other way at all than the swedish way.
You would have to of had a frontal lobotomy to misspronouce Ben, the only time I get pissed is if a sub says Benjamin and not Ben. Who uses that as their name!?
My surname Evans is i think the 5th most common surname in the UK. So it staggers me how many people think it says Evens as in odd and even numbers. Often got wrong by cold callers too, but that bothers me less obviously.
It's something I've gotten used to. My first name is never messed up, but a lot of people pronounce my last name wrong. They pronounce is like "soul," which is pretty cool, so I can't complain.
My name is Charlie, and for some reason when they write my name down on a piece of paper, the assume that the name ends with 'y' instead of 'ie'. It kind of bugs me, but not to the point of snapping at somebody.
Most people can't spell or say my first name right when I first meet them, I don't get offended because it sounds different from what it's spelled like.
Catriona, most people butcher it or call me Katrina.
It bugs me when people misspell my last name, because a lot of people add in an extra 'i', even though it's spelled exactly how it sounds
I'd slap them for being silly. My name is very common, and monosyllabic, so it's incredibly easy to get right.
My girlfriend has an Irish name though, and since going to college everyone who isn't Irish, and even some Dubliners get her name wrong on a near daily basis. It sounds infuriating...
Names Stefan, everyone spells it Stephan.
Dont know why. Annoys the hell out of me.
But meh. Least it has a hint of logic behind it but still>=[ maketh me mad.
Well, my name is pretty damned easy to pronounce so I've never encountered this issue. The worst anyone has ever done is give it a latin flair and since it's usually latin women that do it, I really don't mind.
No one really misspells my name, although I do have the kind of name that you have to say it twice for the person to know what it is, or maybe even spell it on some occasions.
*looks at profile*
*makes mental note not to add an H*
OT: I've had to put up with people using English pronunciation rules on a German last name for 21 years. Any annoyance I had for people messing it up disappeared a long time ago.
