How do you react when someone mispells or mispronounces your name?

I have a French surname, which makes my life more tedious, since I have to spell it everytime I say to. No one truly learns it, and no one can't pronounce French, so, I'm beyond getting mad nowadays.

I really don't react at all. in fact, I had a teacher in 8th grade that was gone on maternity leave, and all the substitutes called me Bruce. I was asked just before graduating high school if that was my real name by a guy that was in that class.

My names are both spelled weird so I have to be like "nope, it's Z-a-c-H not just zac." or "Fischer with a c dude."

I tend to spell it in advance. They even get the relatively common first name wrong, never mind the sans-O not-very-common Irish surname.

Fucking MARTIAN. I'm not an alien! It quite clearly ends in 'man' and not 'tian' I get Marshall quite a lot too. People must just look at my name and go "A HERPA DERPA O___O"

I have yet to meet a single foreigner who doesn't mispronounce it (a Swedish girl came surprisingly close yesterday though), so I pretty much got used to it over the past 5 years since I moved out.

Early on, I'd try correcting them every single time, now I just accept anything not Russian or German as "close enough".

I have had to live with it myself since my birth, sad part is that my name is easy, very easy and yet the one vowel in it should be pronounced not ignored, and people treat it like it's silent..so it sounds silly when people try...

Also, yeah I've had a guy come in to my shop once, call me by my brothers name (note that this is someone I've known for probably 5 years+ now), I corrected him, then when he came back 5 minutes later made the same mistake. -_-

The funny and very depressing part is that they all pronounced it correctly, including ILK.

Also yeah, that sucks when people make the same mistake in two quick moments. My gym teacher called me by my brother's name:Jacob. I corrected him, and he apologized while in his apology calling me Jacob. =/

Only one fucking "H" and it is not directly after or before the "O".
This is easily one of my biggest pet peeves ever. I can count the number of people who've asked or spelled my name correctly the first time.

Really, though, it's your fault for spelling your name wrong.

I didn't think this was possible until my P.E. teacher pronounced my last name Mills.(MILES! MILES! IT'S A COMMON WORD AND NAME! IT'S NOT HARD!). O'course, an enlish teacher recently made the same mistake.

People misspell and mispronounce my last name all the time. I've given up correcting people who mispronounce it, since my dad anglicised its pronunciation and his chosen pronunciation sounds worse than a lot of peoples' mispronunciations. People say, "How do you pronounce it, is it like [whatever]?" and I just say, "Yeah, close enough."

Although one time someone who phoned us mispronounced it so badly that I didn't realise what she was trying to say, and nearly hung up on her...

I am used to it by now. To most people my last name is a jumble of consonants, while in reality it's just a dutch name. Even my first name confuses people, Christiaan.

It doesn't really bother me, the only mistake anyone ever makes with my name is misspelling my first name, Forrest. They usually just forget one of the r's

Well, my first name is pretty common, I've never seen anyone mispronounce Eric.

My last name, however, is a different story. It's Bollinger, pronounced Bowl-inge-er. You'd be amazed at how many people say it like "ball-ing-ur".

Im a Erik and mispronunciation is unheard of for me but misspelling is quite common. Let me list them.

Had plenty of people mishear me (soft-spoken) when I tell them my name, mostly I ignore the mistake, especially seeing as there's far more common and insulting mistakes people make about me almost daily.

My middle name, people have a profuse tendency for mispellings and mispronunciation, more offended but I've concluded that logic is a capitol offense in the world, so I just roll my eyes. Never realized the USA was so ill-educated on English pronunciation.

As far as my last name, I wonder how the heck a dirt-common surname could be gotten wrong in the rare times it is mispelled or mispronounced.
