I think my avatar is pretty unique, especially with the added rain (which I am pretty sure was added by Fanboy, but my memory sucks).
That is some of the charm of this forum. People care enough to find a custom face, instead of picking something cool which someone else have.

I am thinking about changing to something more... homemade. Not by me, but my girlfriend.
But I want it animated, and that might be hard.
Then I thought "but if I change my avatar, no-one will recognize me!"
Yeah, that doesn't matter much when you aren't recognized from the start :p
So if anyone want my avatar, feel free to send me a PM! I'll get back to you if I change it.

The day I see someone else with my fluffy scorpion.....

OT: It's because no one wants to be seen as "the guy who took _____'s avatar."
It pleases me when I see an avatar from something I know. I see yours is actually a monster from the MMO I used to play, Maplestory. It brings back happy memories of my avatar running around in a barrel while I, in real life, laugh at myself being in, well, a barrel. Fun times.
Thank you, your avatar is cool as well. Also, I'm guessing that you were implying that you played as a Brawler?
Yeah, I did. It was fun while it lasted but since the person I normally played with gave it up, I don't play it as much. Now with all those updates I missed I'm going to wait a bit until I can play it again. Hopefully not long but I'm waiting on someone to buy a PC so they'll play it with me. I hate playing MMO's by myself. :(
Well, there are a bunch of other Escapists who I've been talking to about playing Maple, and if we got a group started then we'd have a bunch of people to play it with. :)

Personally I wish people wouldn't swap their avatar so much. I don't recognize peoples usernames on forums at all, unless I see them all the time, so I remember people by their avatars. When people change their avatar it mixes everything up and I have no idea who people are. I'm making an effort to keep the avatar I have now for a while, even though it's not the best, just so I'm not a hypocrite.

I wonder if I stand out though, as my avatar is from manga and not anything gaming related. :x
It does stand out, I recognize you :) But maybe that's because you have been posting an awful lot lately since you joined up and your avatar has been imprinted onto my mind from how often I've seen it :p (not a bad thing)

I'm proud over my avatar, Fanboy made it for me and for that we thank him greatly.

Now go bask in it's awesomeness!

For me, one of the great things about the escapist is that everbody has a very distinct "face" that anybody can instantly identify with. You can instantly tell, it's the hpynotoad guy that comments on every forum! The cat girl doing... something. Its that toon thing with the blue shirt and red hat that always is asking stupid questions! But why is it we have so few repeats? While 99% of the photos have been something from popular culture, they rarely overlap in use. I know like the Guru has been used at least twice, and somebody is using a back shot of that woman Suasan uses as her avatar, and many people use stuff from Zero Punctuation, but those cases are reletively rare. How can a site as big as the Escapist have so few doubles and so much distiction with everybody?
The community actually seems quite large so I often find it difficult to go "Oh hey that's (so and so), they share the same opinion as me on (such and such)!", that's not to say I link avatars with some people or assume personality traits according to those avatars, but I don't think I recognize many people here despite my frequency and fondness of the site. (perhaps its because I post like a detached prick? Who knows)

I like to think that escapist fans are beyond replicating the same tried and died internet meme again and again.

....that statement is slightly self defeating when you look at mine >__>

Hehe, if I didn't have a laptop to post while I'm out or when I'm not home near my PC it would be less. When I posted that though, I didn't think I would be so drawn into the community like I have been. Maybe I can break a kay in 5 more days? :)

It's flattering that you remember my avatar and thus my distinctive presence though. Thank you!
Oh you are welcome :D It's nice to see new people joining and posting regularly who are actually friendly as apposed to whiny pessimists...

...Ahem, but I do like it here. :p People don't really know me because as you can see I've been here over a year and only recently just passed my 1k. Which is nothing on such an insanely active forum like this. Anyway, a late welcome to you, and keep on postin'!

Because when two people have the same avatar, it gets weird. Mine was custom made by Furburt and so was my last one.

Also, we're a wide variety of people.

Oh, that would be a very fun idea! I'd love to be in a Maple guild! It would definitly make me want to play again! I kinda want to right now! What server/world would this be on?

Well, you sound very enthusiastic! I've sent some messages to the other people who I was talking to, and right now I'm waiting for replies. I'm not too sure what world it'd be on, but if you start playing again before everything is set up, then my Bowman is on Khaini. His name is Aerogaunt.

Hrmph... I just noticed today that someone else had the same one as mine (the Tassadar one from the Starcraft ones that are already given, in case I've changed it by the time you read this). I guess I'll have to find another, more unique one to become my own signiture avatar. Of course since I'm indecisive with these kind of things, it might take me awhile...

Hell yes! It would be great to have an Escapists' Maplestory group and would be great to have a group of people to play with! Let me know if I can help with anything and hopefully I'll log back in again soon, you've got me motivated! :)
I played in Windia but if everyone else is in a different server I'll probably buy a 'change server' pack depending on how much that would be. I did buy a pet so I probably have to re-buy it and as long as the price isn't too bad I'll be happy to. If it's too much I'll just start again! Ooh, I really can't wait for this to get set up! Plus it'll be really good to see my robot pet again, I miss the angry little guy. :p
