Wow I feel inferior now... (well slower.) I mean I used to think I was a fast typer (considering sometimes I don't need to look at the keyboard to type what I saying and geting the word right) until I saw other people results-

EDIT- I was able to get 50 words pers minute but now I just trying too hard (and not being natural with it).

Non-dumb answer: Pretty slow. About 30 WPM. I can type pretty fast, but I mistype a lot and have to correct all the time.

Yeah.. I had typing courses, plus 6 years of WoW raiding does that to a person I typed in my normal typing speed and the result was this:

I feel like this site gives a more accurate depiction. The words on your test are too easy to type. It's different when you have to type actual sentences.

I got a 29. Then I tried it again with a different topic and I got 46.

I consider that good, considering I used to be really slow, and I used to only type with one finger.

It's been a while and my skills have atrophied somewhat, but at my best I tested at 93 words per minute with 3 mistakes during a 5-minute test.

Obviously I am biased, but speed is incredibly useful. You're implying that when someone types fast, he isn't coherent. That's just silly. If you have a story in your head and you're a fast typer, it's on screen in no time.

I've highlighted this because as it happens, I'm an aspiring screenwriter studying this very course at university and I'd much rather take my time to mull on what I'm writing, to make itterations to even the most minute details to make sure it is the most engaging and cohesive piece that it can be. Basically, given the time I spend on my work anyway, being able to type an extra 30 words a minute isn't particularly a concern for me, I often type slowly when writing a story, not because I'm a slow typist, but because I'm cautious and like to ruminate on the best way in which to present things to the viewer. Though if you are working in an office or something, sure, speed is a bit more imperative.

Heh, I'm afraid I have to agree with you there. Usually, a story forms while you're writing it and you go back and edit all the time. I have to say that while my typing speed is typically quite high, I hardly ever use it unless I'm copying something from paper or when someone's dictating what I have to type.

On that note, this typing test actually gives a pretty positive view of your typing speed. Going from memory involves thinking. Just reading from screen and typing that involves.. well.. Reading.
