Erm what? There is no such thing as "mbitps". It's either mb (for mega bites, referring to size) and mbps (for Mega bits per second, referring to transfer speeds).

I mean the transfer rates of course. When I went to school we had different abbreviations for the two things, mega byte per second and mega bit per second (mbps, mbitps).
But these days everyone seems to use the same one just capitalizing different letters ( mega bit per second = Mbps, mega byte per second MBps), which causes a lot of confusion for those not tech savvy and when people write it in all lower case, like most on forums

For example, I have NEVER heard anyone in real life say they have a xx mega bit per second connection, they all read both MBps and Mbps as mega bytes per second. And then some people get confused and angry at their ISPs because they think they get only a fraction of what they payed them for

You pay for 60 Mbps down 3 Mbps up( mega bits per second), so when you're downloading at full capacity you should be getting ~7.5 MBps ( mega bytes per second)ideally. While 6-7 is more realistic. And your upload should be a bit short of 400 kb/s ideally.

Silly download limit aside, this looks like a fairly good connection. Though I have no idea about pricing in your region.

Basically, the 2 speeds you compared are apples and oranges. Or perhaps better, apples and much bigger apples

I pay about 5000yen a month (about $50), but that's also got my landline in the costs, strictly speaking the ISP portion is only about 3000yen (about $30).

They claim up to 100mb/s download and upload (http://flets.com/english/next/index.html?link_id=g_next), so clearly their advertising claims are (as usual) more than a little inflated.

I have my internet as part of an internet/tv/phone package, and in the package it costs about £10($15) a month, with claimed speeds of 30Mb/s Download and 6Mb/s Upload. I actually get about 4Mb/s Down and about 1Mb/s Up, and I have no usage cap.

Located in south central Michigan, we get DSL through a local company that is pretty decent. Almost never goes down and usually they inform customers well ahead of times of any scheduled outages. Advertised speed is 6mbs down, speed fluctuates between 768kbs and 1mbs usually. cost is around $50/month. No cap on bandwidth or downloading which is very nice.

Used to live one house down the road from my current address years ago and we had Comcast cable, but when we built a new house not 500 feet from the previous residence we were told by Comcast it was out of range of the node and we would have to have a new node installed to the tune of $1500+. Fuuuuuuuuuuq that. We found local DSL that is as good as the cable we were getting, but the house we built seems to be just beyond the range of any real high speed internet, apparently about 500 feet or so beyond the range...go figure. Otherwise I would have sprang for some double digit speed increase, just not available to us right now

The city-net in the town I live in (the one that city council and schools have). All the student appartments here have access to it.

"First World" internet is not really that great actually, compared to say, my "second world" Internet that is better than 97% of the world. No caps, also comes with phone and costs around 20 lats (29 euros).
