Nah, it's a Stargate reference. Jack is a nickname for people named John.

But of course, that came back to bite me in the ass once I realized what a great game it was. Kind of ruined the mood every time one of the characters was mentioned by name.
Since then, I try to keep my less than serious character naming to games where story doesn't play a big part of the game itself.
