As is evident from playing any MGS sequel, it's obvious that Kojima ran out of ideas after the original Metal Gear Solid, it's no wonder he keeps clinging on to the franchise.
Ironically, Metal Gear Solid's only real ideas came in the metagaming/interface area. The actual gameplay is a retread of Metal Gear 2.
Only without such wonderful bosses as "Shoot Gunner" and "Running Man"

Oh that's why Kojima got back into Metal Gear, for the kids.

Silly me thinking that he was just trying to make that final 20 million he needs to finish the solid gold yacht he's been building with a Solid Snake bow ornament.
If there was one person in this industry who we could all agree was doing it for the art, it would be the man who refused point blank, dead set, for a full 3 years to port his game to a system less powerful than the one he designed it on.
Good point and well made.
I'd like to see him move on to newer territories but my guess is that he's just afraid that some idiot messes up his legacy. Well, maybe the death-threats have something to do with it too.

Okay. More Metal Gear games are on the way. That'll be cool. But I have one warning to every one on this thread:
When some one returns from a alleged retirement the things he makes can change and not for the better. Just think back on one person who made awesome movies and said he'll retire yet didn't. That's right: GEORGE LUCAS. He came back to make another Star Wars movie and it was an animated piece of SHIT! Now it may not be the case for Hideo Kojima but heed my warning.
HEED IT!

And this news is suprising...why?

There was no way Hideo Kojima was not going to make another MGS game, I'm just saddened by the fact that one of the games has Raiden as the protaganist again. Oh Kojima, when will you learn?

Thats not the one he's making, just one being made. The one he's making has Big Boss.
Nevertheless its better to do something you want to do instead of doing something your American fans want you to do.

Anyways, I will probably get this game (and the system) for the love box only. Incredible.

1 - Love Box concept isnt really appropriated kids.

2 - Of course theres a bit of EGO/"Money makin" on this story. I can completely understand that he wont let anyone write any Metal Gear story, no matter how good the writer is. I wouldnt do it too.

3 - KOJIMA san... this long neck jap, wants MONNNEEEY. the more the better

4 - problem when money mostly drives something: QUALITY LOST, POINTLESS sequels.

The Love Box?!

Sounds like an Orange Box type bundle for sex games or something. Let's just hope the next Kojima titles after all this will be something OTHER than MGS.

Maybe a re-imagining of Snatcher?
I'm personally satisfied with the MGS series. It's not like I feel the need to revisit the franchise. Snatcher, on the other hand, would be a nice and refreshing announcement.

I'd like that.
