After 105 hours, and finishing the main quest, imperial quests, and being the thane of falkreath&winterhold&solitude&whiterun&riften, and the harbringer of the companions, I decided I was finished. I didn't do the quests of windhelm or dark brotherhood, only half of thieves guild and markarth etc. So I decided to make another character and have another go. There were no point in doing ALL with one character, there's so little challenge left when you're lv50.

Probably around 20 hours. Alot of that time was spent smithing however.

I guess if I take away all side quests and skill grinding, probably around 10 hours.

I didn't feel the satisfaction I got with oblivion when I finished. The more I play Skyrim the more I wish it was oblivion. Weird.

Well, on my first playthrough I'd just finished the Thalmor embassy before I quite, having kinda dug myself into a minor hole.

I started again, with a far more clear in mind, and haven't actually visited the Greybeards yet (at level 37).

171 hours.
Though there are still 2 achievements I have to get, one which I should have gotten already.
So I'll have to reaload a really old save.
And one for getting 100000 Septims.

I created a Greatsword based Paladin just to get through the main quest and it took me about 6 hours, with some crafting down the middle... What took me the longest were the dragon fights before you get Dragonrend. Some of those bastards just won't land, at least, not 'til they come crashing down.

My file has about 140 hours on it, but probably around 20 of those hours was just the game being on pause. And I'm very nearly done...I'm finishing up the Thieves Guild quest (which is a little tedious), and then I'll probably clear up some of my Miscellaneous list, and that'll probably be it, at least for a little while. There's still a ton of locations on my map that I haven't finished, and I may eventually decide to go check them out.

I thought the whole point was that you never really *finished* skyrim... =P

Personally, I'm 40-odd hours in, and I'm still faffing about playing with smithing and picking locks and stealing everything that isn't nailed down and killing random bandits.

Mostly because the 'main' storyline (I mean the civil war one) is so unutterably boring and bland that I can't motivate myself to go through it yet...not when there are more interesting things to do...like mine ore and hunt rabbits. ;-)

That's not the main storyline just so you know.

I think I've got 70 hours already but i didn't finish it, and i doubt i will. After i realized that I'm playing a glorified Skinner's Box i stopped playing.

I still haven't finished it.

In fact... despite playing and loving every (major) Elder Scrolls game so far, I've not once finished the main quest. I always just get sidetracked, which is kind of a shame, since it actually seems to be quite good this time.

82 hours in. Still no end in sight. I think I was planning on finishing almost 20 hours of play time ago, but I keep getting more quests. And my OCD is like "Finish this shit, you dolt."

I didn't think the main quest was very long, or difficult (300+ attack sort of made sure of that). But it actually took me 93 hours lol.

So how long did it take you to finish the main quest? Have you even done it yet?

Edit: I should clarify, not how long did that questline take you, but at what point in your playthrough did you complete it? lol
Probably around 75+ hours.

The best part is that I'm about 150 hours in and still feel like there's an endless supply of things for me to fuck around with before I declare that I've played the shit out of it.

And then there's the possibility for a new character...

The mark of a truly great game.

I cant finish it with my main two. Assassin and thief will always be able to pull another job/hit.

My mage and warrior will be able to finish the main quest and their side of the civil war questline. But they also will have to do all the quests my mains don't since it doesn't fit their character.

Like Mount and Blade or X3 I cannot finish it, just take a break until I want to play it again.

I consider Skyrim to have several 'main' storylines, of which this is one. Hence the use of inverted commas in my post.

I assume you're referring to the 'dragon' storyline, which, as plots go, is about as complex and inspiring as the civil war. It's better because it's not a direct copy-paste of Romans vs Barbarians, but it's still 'you are the chosen one, go fight dragons', which as fantasy plots go, is right up there with 'rescue the princess' for originality.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really enjoy Skyrim from the gameplay point of view. I just think that its storylines and characters are a bit on the weak side.

I would say about 5 minutes to wrap it up. I still haven't gotten the hang of gift wrapping, so my work is a little sloppy.

I only did the main quest-line last night at 230 hours.

Was a lot cooler than people had made it out to be. I really enjoyed it. I'm still not finished got shouts to get still and some quests to do. Can't wait for the DLC now :)

55-ish hours, I think. I've run out of things to do that interest me now that I can kill pretty much anything with my uber gear, and I'm not much of a thief or a mage, so I'm taking a break.
