How Many Times Have You Quit WoW And Why?

I can't really answer that, maybe 4 or 5 times?

I always take a break when the content isn't satisfying enough, in fact, I just quit WoW about 2 months ago, just for the exact reason. Also, it really refreshes you up when you don't have to worry about raiding and stuff like that. (I'm pretty HC player on this matter when I get into it >.>)

Possibly starting to play after next expansion is launched, just to see the new content.

3 times for me. The 1st was because I was playing with my girlfriend and she broke up with me. The second time was because my guild leader kept pissing me off. The 3rd was because we were raiding 10 man Naxx and due to a shortage of Healers, we were having to run it with just 2 (me and a Paladin) which was hard work for me and to cap it all, the raid leader insisted every week doing the 4 horseman fight as the final fight of the evening even though every week I asked him to do it 1st as its the hardest fight to heal with 2 healers. Ended up getting too stressed to continue.

Not trying to call anyone out but to say you played for an hour and found it boring is really dumb. Many good games, books, and movies are boring at the start. Its the nature of media. (I have no problem if people don't play it, thats your choice.)

That being said I have quit twice. Once between Vanilla and TBC because my guild stopped raiding before the xpac. The second time was at the end of TBC to try out Warhammer.

I've quite twice, both for realising just how boring the game is. I don't think I'll ever be going back.

I played for 3 months in 2005 (vanilla), enjoyed most of it, then stopped because I no longer had the time that I thought I needed to devote to get my money's worth out of the game. I never went back and have no plans to.

I quite once because it wasn't a particularly great game and it didn't feel like paying for something that I wasn't enjoying very much. I have never gone back on my decision.

And I know a lot of people will flame this comment because they love WoW but well all I have to say to that is its my opinion and I don't care whatsoever if you disagree because you are wrong...

:D Now off to go annoy people somewhere else!

well i have played for roughly 3 years i think, and over those 3 years i have stopped playing about 5 times. The first time i stopped playing wasn't really me quitting i just felt like i needed a break, the latest time i quit was about 8 months ago i quit because the raiding guild i was in broke up and they all factioned changed/realm transfered or went to a differant guild. I loved the guild i was in and the people were great, and i couldn't really be arsed trying to find a new guild so i just thought "fuck this.." logged off and froze my account. I wasn't intending to go back but recently a mate of mine at work who played WoW from day one but had to stop playing sometime last year because of his shifts, well recently he quit his job and got a new job with less hours. So with his new free time he's decided to go back to WoW...but then he starts pestering me with texts telling me to go back on WoW and go to his realm, i kept saying no but he wouldn't shut up so i eventually caved and started playing again. Been back about 2 weeks and yeah sure im enjoying it because i ain't played it for ages, but i'm not expecting this to last long. I'm planning on quitting again when The Old Republic is out anyway...if im even still playing WoW by time thats out.

i doubt you'll get flamed :p ok WoW is good but its not amazing

It's better than every other MMO out there (that i know about anyway) but its not that great a game if you understand where im coming from, a better MMO could be made and personally even though i do like WoW i can't wait for another MMO to come and knock WoW off its throne its been to popular for to long. I'm hoping TOR will be the MMO to beat it, but i doubt it :(

3 times (but I think the first two were more hiatuses)...the first because I wanted to try new games, the second because I felt bad because I chose raiding over going out, but this last time all I had to get off WoW (hopefully for good) was type /played and see 4 months worth of sitting in front of a computer farming for imaginary toys and chaching.

I hear what you are saying, I guess MMO just isn't really my thing. I much prefer multiplayer with friends because I know that the people I'm going to be playing with are fun. Also the whole paying for a game and then paying more money every month (or 3 months or 12 or whatever) to keep playing seems ridiculous, although I understand why they do it.

Ever since the days before fancy weather and shapely character shadows, I've tended to play WoW for a month, then give up for five or six, and then return for another bash. The excitement of all the new innovations wanes once more after a month of play - the chief memory of which will invariably be the relentless offers of gold from people who construct sentences at random by shaking a Scrabble bag and seeing what spills out.

I would play it if I had a nicer computer, could afford it, or if I knew some of the secrets to make it more interesting and fun.
