How Many Zombies Does It Take to Ruin Your Fun?

The thing is, killing zombies is fun. Having to escort inept AI through them all the time (with no checkpoints and few and distant save points) IS NOT.
That's how you take the fun out of a zombie game.
Any reference to any videogame is not casual.

I can see the options now,

*Lots of zombies
*A ton of zombies
*An ocean of zombies
*To many zombies to count
Why not? Set it up like an Easy, Normal, Hard, Insane difficuluty system and have those tags as the descriptors.

I'm sorry, I thought the concept here was that the relation between "Zombies" and "Fun" were directly related.

How could anyone possibly think that they were inversely related.... except in real life in which eventually would get very problematic.

I would love for someone to use the engine's tech to make some other game with tons of AI enemies. Think like a massive fantasy RPG/action game based around massive battles. That would be sweet.

He's right. Too many zombies ruins things. Be nice if the rest of the game industry understood this too and left them alone for awhile.

They'll be plenty of them when the apocalypse comes. Stop making so many games about them.
The first part of your message annoyed me, i didnt like L4D cus you fight at tops, 40-50 zombies at the same time? That isnt very many, i want to have the WHOLE cities population to mow down, his example was retarded.

"We took 7000 zombies and put them in a tiny space and went "hur hur hur its cramped" Then decided a lot of zombies in any size area is bad and cannot happen"

This quote saddened me. Thats a stupid example. I want 7000 zombies spread over a single shopping mall forme to kill having to fight 100-200 at a time in massive never ending waves. I never get the feeling of being overwhelmed in zombie games by the sheer weight of numbers the zombies bring to bear. I want L4D no specials, 40x as many zombies.

The second part made me chortle so i forgave you :p.

Just one zombie ruins my fun. If it's on my lawn.
At which point Clint Eastwood brings out his rifle and tells them damn zombies to get off his lawn :p

I can't help but wonder how badly that many zombies in that small an area would actually frag up the area even if it's technically posssible to do.

I'd also point out that assuming they are designing the game well, you'd probably be mobbed no matter what you meleed them with if they were that thick.

On the other hand dropping a bomb such as the classic "rigged propane tank" into the middle of a zombie pile like that would be awesome, and probably help a bit towards an equivilent acheivement like the one for the Megaman blaster from the first game.

This is one of the games I'm really looking forward to, as long as they remove the draconian time limits I'll be happy with it in all likelyhood.

If I even smell a traditional zombie in a video game, I automatically lose respect for it. They are extremely boring, overused, and just lame.

It'd be cool to have a setting or a free for all mode where they just keep coming and soon you have that seven thousand if you can hack it.

I'm confused...
TOO many... zombies?
My perception of reality is shaken to its very foundations!

Not tons, remember how packed the the mall was in Dawn of the Dead (1978)?

For me its more scary when your waiting to see a zombie not just mowing them down. Maybe they should add a setting to let the player pick the number of zombies.
