I'm no expert on military equipment, but there seem to be enough doodads in there to rest my fears that these things won't actually work. Anyone able to recognize any of the parts in these pictures, feel free to enlighten us on the finer points of night vision goggle manufacturing.
It's definately possible to have fully working NVGs in that small of a device. They probably aren't very strong, but it'll work.

Here's a video of how to make some homemade NVGs, and it's not too much bigger:

If you actually planned on buying the prestige edition in the first place, you've got something wrong with you.

Is that woman holding a sandwich? Gee let me think cheap toy being mass produced in a chinese factory. Color me unsurprised to say the least. Oh well at least it's not a sweat shop. Hey I highly doubt you'd see people chatting afiably over lunch in a sweatshop... or maybe sweatshops have changed either it's good for grins.

If you dont like being part of a sweatshop labor economy I suggest you take your underpants off. Because they are made in sweatshops...

We will be able to recognise those of you who are genuinely opposed to these things by the fact that you will be starving and naked from making a stand.

Good luck with it.

If these truly are fully functioning night vision goggles, I'm going to sit back and watch as some kid wears them in daylight and gets blinded and his angry mum sues.
Ahahaha, so true, god bless America :)

My guess is that they're simply using the same "Night Vision" that cameras use (e.g., Paris Hilton) & just putting it in a case that makes it look like NV goggles.

I still want the Prestige edit - I don't even think they do them in the UK.
available through HMV only in the UK... and sold out on pre-order faster than a fast thing in a bag of fast things strapped to a fast thing going very fast indeed

I think these cheap kiddy toy versions of NVG's suit the majority of COD players, these being whiny kids under the age of 15. I'm sure they'll have no complaints. I also agree with Mortesphere, if you have bought this prestige edition there is most definitely something wrong with you...or your under 15.

Hey guys.
'Eyeclops night vision goggles' are $66 and do what these do.

BUT!

BUT!
You can get an infrared pen flashlight that will allow you to use dirt cheap led nvg's at a range past '50 ft. It's like an invisible flashlight you use with nvg's and much better than the cheap LEDs that are on the goggles.
Now if you taped it on to the NVG.....
BAM! 200ft range NVG's for cheap!

And that part right there, well it's called the green filter, guess what it does, it tricks idiot better-paid people into buying this asbestos lead filled toy.

Once agian, not suprised, those cheap bastards you. I bet Activision set a abnormaly low budget for Infinity Ward.
CoD doesnt need a budget, the game has already been perfected as far as anyone is going to bother. you are paying $60+ for at most $10 of game

your thinking of Germany, as china cant make a firearm that lasts to save its ass

Ever since I heard about the NVGs in the Prestige edition, I was skeptical about them being of good quality if not working. Here's why: I once went to an army surplus shop and all the NVGs all costed between 500$-1500$.

I like the subtle touch of Asian sweatshop workers in the background.
hahh My instant gut feeling I doubt any of those workers are getting a fair price out of making these goggles.
Isn't everything made in china now? I've yet to see something that's made out of plastic and isn't from China. At least it's better than gold farming.

I doubt there are many products NOT made there, These keys I'm hammering right now are probably made from the same exact person that is screwing the Modern Warfare Goggles into place.
That's globalisation for you.

i build electronic circuits.i looked at the pic of the guts of the night vision goggles. it's a bit hazy, but as far as i can see, there are no resistors, no capacitators, no photosensitive capacitators, no diodes, no nothing. most likely it just has a green sheet of plastic in front of it. not the real deal.

Edit: I'm waiting for the number of Law suits because of kids running out side and staring at the sun with them.
Screens have maximum brightnesses you know? We also have irises, together they make a handy combination for making the sun ineffective.

Heh what is the bet just the month before that same sweatshop was pumping out the Batarangs. XD
Anyway of course it was not going to work and just be cheap rubbish. And of course they were going to use cheap foreign labour. What part of this is really surprising to you?
Well everyone knew they were going to be crap except for some who thought they were gonna be proper goggles but these photos confirm what we were thinking and I doubt anyone who thought they were gonna be good will be so enthusiastic now.

These photos will make my friend feel better though, seeing as he went to pre-order the Prestige Edition but they had none left. Then to top things off, I broke the news to him about Left 4 Dead 2 being banned here (it was one of his fave games). If only I could of seen his face, instead of looking at a lot of capitalized swear words over Msn.
