So, it's pretty well known that technological advancements move at the rate of a meth addicted shrew and it's tough to keep up with them.

How often would you say you trade in your old equipment for a new model? I'm talking about things like TVs, MP3 players, and the like.

Are you a high tech cyborg from the future or do you envy the advancements of cavemen, or are you something in between?

I'm really slow at things like this because I don't earn money and so tend to avoid buying anything. My pc is about 4 years old, about average spec for the time, and I think the one before that lasted a lot lot longer. My mate got an expensive and almost top of the range overclocked pc 2 years ago and is already thinking about getting another one. I didn't get a console for ages, but my brother bought me a wii when it came out because he's a cyborg type, but not really a gamer. I got an xbox 360 2 years ago around this time, and phones last on 2 year contracts.

To be honest, I think this PC could last a while, and if a new console came out I don't think I'd buy it for a long time, especially if it's still about all this motion sensor crap. So yeah I'd say I'm fairly slow with technology because I'm always content with what I've got.

Well I have had the same TV for... As long as I can remember... I have a crappy brickphone because all I use it for is calls. I get some game consoles when they come out and upgrade my PC when it stops being able to run everything at high settings. Right now that means getting more RAM so Civ5 will run properly...

TV: I've had the same TV for about five or six years in my room. It's a CRT, it was my brothers before that for a couple of years.
MP3: It's about four years old now. The battery can be a bit wonky but I use my phone a fair bit for that now anyway.
Computer: Vid/Gfx every 2 years (rotating), other parts less often/as needed. Complete overhaul every 5 years or so.
Phone: 2-3 years, though more when I was getting new phones every time my brother broke his.

TV - if/when it breaks
Computer - 3-5 years
Console - Never trade them in. I buy a new console a year after its released.

And thats me. I don't have an MP3 player of any kind, or a cell phone, so yeah.

Well I've had my current computer since 2007 and upgraded it once with used parts. The graphics card lasted until last December, which was thereafter replaced.

You have a TV in your room? Do you watch it all that often?

TV: When I have funds to buy something bigger than what I have
Computer: Plan on building a new one this year so about...every 3 years
Console: When something new comes out, so far my 360 is still an original Pro with an Elite Harddrive and she's still going *knocks on wood* She sounds like a diesel engine starting up a game though and is extremely picky in taking a brand new game
Mp3: Bought a new one this year, it crapped out so Apple sent me a new one
Phone: When it breaks or plain stops working

Well, I haven't really upgraded computers in years because I bought a laptop, then more recently a desktop. I might put in another 460gtx or more RAM. And I do need a new monitor.

I haven't upgraded my MP3 player since I switched from a 256mb Shockwave to a 5th generation iPod Video. I run Rockbox on it and I'd hate for it to die.

I don't really upgrade stuff until it breaks or becomes otherwise unusable. I'll likely keep my current phone for at least another year or two; all the new ones are gigantic and smart phones. I can put mine in my pocket, and I don't need to buy a data plan for $50/month.

It's on a lot of the time when I'm on the computer. We have a TV in the kitchen that's very rarely used. Still no TVs in any bathrooms though.

TV: Depends when it breaks and what comes out. I got a large plasma last year to put in my room and probably won't change it soon.

Computer: About every year. Depends on the pieces. I have a monster of a rig that needs specific parts so that's trickier.

Phone: Never...I tossed this one off the stairs and it works so it's a keeper.

No consoles.

I mainly just upgrade my stuff when the old things die.
I bought my 360 and PS3 a few years after they were released just to get it cheaper, and so there'd be a bigger game market.

My current TV is a bit over 3 years old, the previous one moved to my computer/bed room is about 15 years old now.

My PC is about 2 years old now and should be good for another 3-4 years at least.

My phone (which is also my mp3 player) gets replaced when I get a new subscription, so once every 2 years or so.

I've only ever owned one console a NES and one handheld a GameBoy Classic, neither got replaced as much as they stopped being used.
