I only buy a new TV when the old one breaks. When I was growing up our family only had one TV in the entire house...and it looked something like this:
We used it until 2004. No, I'm not joking.
They finally got a new one a few years ago, which they gave to me when I moved out. It's your typical SD unit with built-in stereo speakers, but it gets the job done. Can't complain.
The same goes for just about everything else. I bought my laptop back in 2008, and I plan on using it until it breaks down or I use up the hard drive space. My cell phone works just fine, so I'll hang onto that until something goes wrong with it. By that time my provider will tell me I'm eligible for a new replacement for my old clunker anyway.
The only exception is gaming consoles, but even then I wait a year or two until the price goes down and the defects are worked out.
