I live in michigan too and when I asked a teacher that question he told me so people could avoid making gang sines with their hats and hoods. Apparently if my hat is at one angle it's fine, but if it's at a different angle shit be on.chadachada123 said:My school claimed that hats were "distracting," yet allowed people to have literally green mohawks along with all sorts of other counter-culture/unusual hairstyles that were far more distracting than a simple cap.Shax said:I never understood why wearing hats in school is so taboo.I've heard that it was first introduced as a matter of courtesy, but that seems a little outdated. I'm not trying to say that courtesy is outdated of course, it's just that people don't wear their hats inside to be disrespectful, they just want to wear their damn hat.
We also allowed a huge variety of piercings, too, and shirts with distracting statements (as long as they weren't "obscene" of course >.>).
Full of hypocrisy, in my opinion.
As a person who loves hats, this is probably the biggest one for me.
