How to shut up a extremist atheist:
Remind him that the scientific process is about always accepting the possibility of being wrong.
It's based on the possibility of being PROVEN wrong.
True, but one must always be prepared to be proven wrong. You'll end up with egg on your face if back up something with fanatical conviction and then further study proves you wrong. Thanks for the input though. It was late and I wasn't sure how I should phrase it.

Hmm... Then again, that works both ways. Doesn't it?
I wouldn't say so. Do extremist christians really care about the scientific process? Extremist atheists are just the ones who forget what makes science so beautiful.

True, but it's far more scientific to follow conclusions that actually have evidence behind them than those that don't.

not really, real faith requires that you be unwavering in your beliefs, i.e not accepting the possibility of being wrong.
I think he's just pointing out the irony of the post (in that both sides should accept there's a slight possibility that they're wrong, yet the initial poster has decided to go after one side only). I.e. he's saying the same as you in a roundabout way.

OT: How to shut up Dane Cook and his "comedy":

Shoot him.
Actually, Higgs20 pretty much said what I was planning to say in response (and accidentally did say before I noticed his comment). I have no problem with atheists. Just the ones who forget what really gives science the logical high ground.
