I’ve noticed a lot of people are worried about the election. So, how worried are you?

I’m VERY worried.

Considering I’ve been hearing that businesses are already shutting down and boarding up... this does not sound pretty

Yeah, options include (but are not limited to):
Trump wins (seems unlikely, but not good);
Biden wins and there's a civil war (seems v unlikely, also not good);
Biden wins and there's a sharp spike in right wing terrorism (seems likely, also not good, though not as bad as the other options)

I used to think the country was going to break down into civil war with the election.

Then I got a job and started going outside, and the world, by and large, was normal, albeit with reduced traffic.

I think this long lockdown has given our society a collective case of the stir-crazies as we foam at the mouth over internet rages, and that although we've had a tumultuous year, it isn't actually going to be the end of the world on Wednesday. Because the angriest, screechiest people are on computers inside. Because there isn't anybody with both the will to have a fight and the organization to make it mean more than some isolated domestic terrorist incidents.

Gotta say, tho, we've managed to outdo 2016's hysteria, and that's saying something. I remember stories of folks attempting to commit suicide because they were convinced that Trump was going to round them up into camps.

Rather worried. It's not at all about rioting or whatever, it's about future policies and the outcome. I don't want another 4 years of Trump and what that would entail. I don't want to think of what kind of dumb BS he'll get up to if he loses and is feeling spiteful either, with the help of his stupid pet turtle.

Not worried at all. I vote for God's Kingdom and His victory is assured.

I'm not really worried about the election itself, I'm more worried about everything surrounding the election.

I'm privileged enough that neither Trump nor Biden getting elected will actually benefit me in any way. I'm not rich enough to benefit from Republican tax cuts, and I'm not poor enough to benefit from any welfare programs. The middle class gets stuck with the bill regardless of what happens.

What's more worrying to me is potential civil unrest regardless of which candidate wins. We're probably looking at more riots and looting, or more domestic terrorism, or both.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Well, trump won't quit easy, or he will and will flee the country. His fanboys are crazy though, I do expect to see a lot of activity from them when trump loses.

Yeah, and at this rate just imagine what 2024 is going to be like. And then 2028.

Is anyone going to tackle this trend? I'd like to think so, but I'd start worrying if they don't.

I do wonder about a certain banned user who was thinking of becoming an hero if donald won or stole the election.

I'm more worried about the fact that more political threads have been leaking back into OT.
My election thread was moved to off topic for some reason.

Current Events threads must link to a credible news source, per Nick's rule. If you edit one in, then it can be moved back.

Well, not much to be honest. Maybe less than last american elections, in fact.

Couple of reasons:
One: I have the priviledge of not living in the US, so i have less than minimum influence over all of it.
Two: While the domestic problems of America sound worrisome, i have my own country to worry about.
Three: After a brief period of optimism, i became disillusioned with international politics.
Four: Neither candidate promises overhaul to american approach towards enviroment and diplomacy.
The external politics, someone living outside the US should be worried about.
