I know it seems crazy, but I really think there's a point in your life where you've devoted too much time to a game. Reality and the game begin to merge and you think you hear things, you start seeing things, or thinking that something in the game is coming out at you.

I'll give you an example. I was so super stoked for [Prototype] and I've been playing it faithfully for two days.
Just now, as I'm getting ready to sleep (i'm on a laptop in bed, lol), I could have swore I heard the beeping of an infection detector.

This isn't the first time this has happened.
Ever since Fallout 3, I've been thinking that I hear the music that 3 Dog plays on his raio station.

Maybe I'm crazy, but have you guys have had those moments, and if so.. what happened?
Did you hear something?
Dream Something?
See something?
Smell (wtf?) something?

When you're about to see someone get killed in a movie or any game, you feel like saying "Finish Him!"
It has this strange sensation to it and even to saying it... When I watch the replays in UFC I say it sometimes.

You ask the guy next to you on the bus if he needs a clip.
Bonus points if he looks at you funny, and then promptly gets off.

Also
For all you Manhunt fans (I.e. Me)
You walk up behind somebody without them noticing, and when somebody asks what you're doing, you say that You're going for the brutal kill.

Am I the only one that randomly hears the Xbox 360 notification sound during their day? I was taking a piss the other day and I could've sworn that I had heard it...

If you start hearing, seeing, smelling things I think you should take a couple days off.

I play a lot of video games but at most I just dream about them, sometimes I listen to music in my head (Don't try and tell me you haven't done that.) but that's about it.

One time after being up all night playing Unreal Tournament 3 I started hearing "HEADSHOT!" randomly, needless to say I took the day off, sleeping.

i've never had anything crazy happen to me other than getting pissed when I don't have a 4.0+ k/d in a fps online match. I also find conversations about videogames to be the most entertaining.

I remember after a good long run of Half-Life 2, I went out at night and I caught myself looking for the "flashlight" button. Also, I tend to whistle video game songs...

Smell would have been fairly WTFish until now because Bungie recently revealed [http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/guide.aspx] what Grunts, Jackals, Drones, Brutes, and Hunters smell like, so now I might walk into the bathroom and check to see if Flipyap is hiding in the tub. Besides dreams, the most (that I remember) that a video game has changed my ordinary life is for a while I would tense up and check the corners whenever I walked through a doorway-- which made things weird walking outside. Also I think the lush greenery that has been making its way into video games lately has actually made me appreciate seeing real plant life more. In the same vein, I once almost asked a doctor treating a burn my sister had "Why don't you just use the dermal regenerator?"-- a device from Star Trek.

Some of these are hilarious.

A couple of months ago when I was into Fallout3 heavily, i went to luch with a girl I work with and offered to pay for both our lunches. She asked me if I was sure, and i responded by saying "yeah don't worry about it" then unstrapping my combat shotgun from my back and blowing away the girl behind the register. Strangely her whole body just exploded.

Oh and I once refered to bottled water as purified water.

Everytime I don't hear BGMs in Suspense / Horror movies, i know there's someone or something going to happen which will TRY to surprise the audience. I'm always spot on. Why can't suspense movies have comforting music when it happens? That way it'll become less predictable and more effective.

Usually eyestrain or blisters let me know I need to stop. ;) Also, when you see afterimages when you try to go to sleep of game pieces, it's time to give it a break.
