Well, alright, but only if he doesn't talk. If he's gonna talk, he has to be voiced by Ross Scott, maker of Freeman's Mind. Any other voice would sound really weird to me. Besides:

He looks pretty darn close, right?
Holy shit. I was a fan of Freeman's Mind, but I had no idea that they looked so alike.

Not getting into the discussion ... I support the notion wholeheartedly, because this sort of thing came to mind several years ago already.
Give him Morgan's voice if you have to, but he's a reasonably versatile actor in both body, face and voice. He could probably manage that AND the action parts with a bit of effort.

Just do it NOW, before he gets too much older.

EDIT: whoops, I saw a bit of discussion. Carnkhan --- no, you want Peter Capaldi, aka the sweary one from The Thick Of It / In The Loop. For some reason he just comes to mind...

A Half-Life film would have to be first-person anyway, if such an atrocity were being seriously considered.

Yes AND HE SHALL VOICE HIM LIKE HE DOES HOUSE BECAUSE GORDON WAS BORING,

No I'm not trolling. I liked HL2 but I just couldn't stand the fact that the main character, a freaking SCIENTIST, wouldn't talk. And yet people knew him and liked him. Fuck him. I want to see him with a personality. Especially a snobbish but charming bastard like House.

Also how can it ruin the character WHEN THERE IS NO CHARACTER?

No. He wouldn't fit the role. I imagine Gordon as more of a calm, scientific, but also mad-scientist-y character. I can't think offhand of anyone who could pull it off, but I haven't seen Dr. House's actor in any roles that might indicate he can play someone like Freeman.

Looking and being are two different things. The Pope looks like the Sith Lord, but that doesn't mean he IS the Sith Lord.
I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be one though...

OT: Hugh Laurie does look the part, but each time I think of him as Gordon Freeman I imagine him acting like House and that just doesn't work. Would be funny though.

No, Freeman already exists. He is currently working at the Large Hadron Collider, planning our impending doom.
HOLY F**! That's a bit scary. I must meet him, now! Though he probably won't say much.

Its possible...
The resemblance is quite close. However, that does not necessarily mean he would be good for the role. Still, it's a nice thought, and I can dream, can't I?
