They take origin off of these then I'll get it.
Most of them have Steam keys, Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3 and the Sims 3 are the only ones that don't I think.
Those are the only ones I would want, well bf3 and dead space 3. Already have sims 3, wasn't as good as 2.
That's a shame, only one on Origin that I wanted was Dead Space 3 since I played the other two, so I got it. First look at Origin for me, so I guess I'll find out what all the complaining is about.

While EA certainly isn't absolved of their past blunders. This seems like a good step in the right direction. I put $5 bucks down because what the hell EA shouldn't be punished for doing good things. In my opinion.

Besides It's helping a charity, and it's an amazing deal.

Props to EA for doing this. Hopefully this is the start of a trend towards something better; we'll see if it's just a one-off, I suppose.

As for those complaining about Origin, I'm not a huge fan of it either. It's not exactly the software version of hellspawn though. I mainly don't like it because it never has sales ever, and old games are still at or near launch prices, which makes it rather useless and miserly as a store. But clearly, in this circumstance, that isn't really an issue. So yeah. Well done EA.

Now stop Dragon Age from sucking. You goofy bastards.

No way in hell I'm falling for this obvious attempt to get me to reinstall Origin on my pc by EA. I wonder how many of those bundle sales came from their own pocket? lol

At least some of the games have Steam keys.

Considering their tendency to add items to the sale later on, should I try and hold out to see if they add Mass Effect to the mix?

There's no real point in holding out, if the general practice of Humble Bundle holds true. As in, when they add the games in the second week, they give anyone who brought it the first week the opportunity to download the second week's games without repurchasing. Mind you, if Mass Effect is the one thing that's going to tip the scale, go ahead and wait. :3

O.T.
Given EA's actions thus far, I'm more inclined to believe that this is more a ploy to get me to download origin and buy their games then out of pure kindness and generosity.

But even if it is, it's a really good way to do it. A win for everyone, really - EA gets its advertisement, I get some cheep games, and the money all goes to charity. So marketing ploy or not... May as well buy.

Four of the five first-tier games have Steam keys.

Ahem...

Humble Origin Bundle games available on Steam:

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
Dead Space 1
Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
Mirror's Edge
Medal of Honor
From http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_3rd_Party_DRM_on_Steam:

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition - Online play requires a MyCrysis account
Dead Space 1 - Contains inert SecuROM
Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box - requires EA Account
Mirror's Edge - requires EA Account, single-player only
Medal of Honor - requires EA Account
Just because an EA doesn't require Origin doesn't mean they're not going to sneak some malicious DRM or online requirements onto your system.
Well crap, count me out then.

I was doing shit on Origin earlier (you know, mostly to do with this bundle and the few games that are only available on Origin), and it seems really fucking slow for some reason. I can't tell if its just my client or if the shock of more than fifty non-Battlefield players using that shitty thing at once is overwhelming it a bit.

On another note, WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS BUNDLE?

Dead Space 1, okay.
Dead Space 3, whatever.

Wait.

There seems to be something missing there.

HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO PLAY DEAD SPACE 3 WITHOUT HAVING BEATEN DEAD SPACE 1 AND 2 FIRST?!?!?!?!

Good thing I may choose not t support those charities and just pay the "humblebundle" people, because they provide me with a service that I care about. Cancer? good idea, but there will never ever be a cure for cancer because there is no money in health people. Humanity? humanity is pretty sick and no pitty talk or welfare-checks will save it. Red Chross? let's say I know a big hypocritical ***** in there, no thanks. AIDS? never even thought it was that much of a deal, besides humans are to blame for it's spread.
NIce bundle for 5 bucks!
So am I just overwhelmingly naïve as to the nature of human beings (humans being naturally gregarious and altruistic) or are there seriously like five super incredibly rich guys that have so much money that OTHER PEOPLE don't give a shit about their own health and the health of everyone else on the planet such that they actually aren't actively looking for a cure?

You do have the opinions of a wannabe nilihistic 12 year old, though.

Would be more tempting if I didn't already own most of these games.

Besides, I don't know if I could live with the fact that I would own Medal of Honor.
It's the 2010 reboot, not Doorfighter.

It's not a bad game, it's very linear and short but it has enjoyable moments and an interesting approach to the whole modern shooter thing. You're kinda just a guy doing a job, it's rather grounded. If you want the bundle but not it just give away the key.

If it were doorfighter then yeah that'd be nasty.

This is a fantastic deal.
Darn shame I already own some of those games :p

But still I don't see any negative of this.
Over $3million has been raised and it isn't even a day yet.

Sadly the two games I would consider trying are locked behind origin so this deal is worthless to me personally. However, it is a nice gesture and while I hate many practices by EA, this is something they did right.

After far too many problems with EA related products and services I've made a personal rule that if they won't put it on Steam, then its definitely not worth my money obviously.

Also, I kind of promised myself I'd shoot myself in the head before buying another EA backed game after Mass Effect 3....so, yeah, Humble, good, magnanimous, beneficent, saintly....whatever its called, if its locked behind Origin...they can keep that crap, including the thousand dollars worth of games I already lost to my personal vow to avoid having to commit honor bound hare-kari over easily avoided mistakes.

Whats more, charity or not....EA is writing that off on their taxes, its not as if they're actually being charitable other than to look charitable publicly. So I don't much buy the whole "its for charity" thing. EA has far too many accountants and lawyers to have any soul left in it. Its a nice puppet show though...for people that enjoy puppet shows.

Thanks for doing the research. Shame about the cancer research charity. My grandmother died of cancer last year so I was feeling obliged to shove it all to them. But there we go.

popularity stunt? sure. awesome as fuck? that too.

EA or not, I wanted Dead Space 3 for quite a while now but it was too expensive. Now it's not anymore. I'm so happy :D

Also just so you guys know: there are Steam keys for most of those games. It's NOT locked to Origin. I feel like just stating the obvious here but apparently many of you haven't noticed.

That would kind of require installing Origin probably. Which I can't be arsed to do.

Nice that you get steam keys and origin keys if the game is on steam also. In no way interested in BF3 or sims so all theeEA games for just £0.64 and for most of them 2 copies without giving a penny to EA, I am livin' the dream!

I mainly got this for the first deadspace and mirrors edge so : )but dead space 3 will satisfy my co op needs until saints row 4 so that's a bonus.
