I am glad it's coming out, but Ubisoft not having faith in it is kinda a bad sign. Hopefully it is still good.

the survival action game Ubisoft first announced back in 2008, will finally come out this year but will only be released digitally because the publisher "doesn't have much faith in the title."
That does not bode well.

Maybe you should get somebody who speaks french because nowhere in this video do they say that Raymond or Ubisoft have little faith in the game, it's just some french dude's opinion about why it's going digital, and even this, I'd take it with a grain of salt considering the "seriousness" of the segment.

I really am not sure what that trailer was about. No indication of protagonist, theme, plot, nothing. But, then, I could say the same thing for District 9, and I think we all know how well that turned out, don't we? Who knows, it could sweep the world.

I've never heard of the game until this article mentioned it and googling for a bit, it seems that the game had/has an interesting idea, but I'm a bit concerned that Ubi doesn't have much faith on this. I guess releasing digitally may be a good move financially speaking.

Also, judging it from the trailer, it looks pretty impressive for an XBLA game.

This sucks. I was actually looking forward to this game based on the old trailer. Thought it seemed awesome. It's good that they at least release it on PSN, but I dislike buying games digitally. I need to have the box!

Oh well, since the company themselves said they don't have any faith in the game - I most probably won't bother buying it anyways.

So, digital only title from big publisher apparently decides not to be released on perhaps the most useful downloadable platform, DRM and all, one that has in recent times helped slow burner games into success? And it has the name of hot, billowing water? That's not lack of faith, that's just trying to get the game to fail.

was kind of a back burner thing I was keeping an eye on.

However they are missing a massive opportunity by not releasing it on june 9th

I think their lack of faith doesn't reflect their belief of the quality of the game. Games that sell poorly are by no means therefore lesser or broken experiences, just look at Okami.

I believe this comes from looking at the product, looking at the market, and making the logical and safe decision to keep costs down because they know your average gamer isn't going to be high anxious to get their hands on this title. Especially given they've left it so long most have forgotten about it, and I'm sure they will have looked at concensus polls and projected sales and made the deduction this isn't going to sell like the next CoD. Especially this year, with the very strong potential line up, it'd be slaughtered.

No, I'm positive this is not Ubisofts commenting on the game being a failure but more that they don't have faith in the consumers taking to it in the millions.

This was a failure.

I'm making a note here: SO PISSED OFF

It's hard to overstate my disappointment.

Ubisoft sofware: You can just kiss my toned white ass.

For the good of all of us, they should be punched in the head.

(the title's close enough to make the joke work, shut up!)

This. I'd buy a game like this in a second, but I only have a PC.

Yes, something DID get lost in translation. The guy is just giving his opinion on why it's only released in digital format.

He says : "I Am Alive will only be released on a digital format for Live and PSN. There will be no physical release via CD and such, because in my opinion, maybe Ubisoft has a feeling that it sucks."

He is nowhere quoting Jade Raymond about the lack of faith in the title.

Well, it's nice to hear that it's finally getting a sure-fire release. I've had a poster up in my room of the game forquite some time now (funnily enough it doubles as a motivational poster).

This means nothing, it could still turn out good, you just never know.

Remember Beyond Good & Evil? Yeah, that was by Ubisoft at the same time as Splinter Cell and Sands of Time, so they picked their priorities while a great game suffered sales wise.

This doesn't make any difference whether the game is good or not, don't listen to the suits. If they didn't actually have faith in it they wouldn't be releasing the damn thing.
