I looooooove Dr Pepper. I heard the US has more than one kind of Dr Pepper flavour like cherry and.... something. We in the UK just get the one. Seriously, why? Why only one Jaffa Cake flavour but Milka has several. AAARRRRGGHHH!!
You really only need the one, true Doctor (soda, not the T.V. show). The others are, in my opinion, a pale and unworthy imitation that profane the glorious name of the original.
True. I wanted to experiment but I shall be loyal to the original.

Dr Pepper. What's the worse that can happen?

Totally not an ad!
Ok Para, be honest now, what did they offer you in return for this
*Turns on paper shredder* WHAT!! I CAN'T HEAR... NOTHING. I'M NOT BEING PAID BY ANYONE!!
What did they pay you with? Cash, grass or ass?

I get what you people are trying to do, and it's cute that your lives are going so well with your privilege that you can mock the righteous anger of those who have to be minimized and micro aggressioned by those with power on a daily basis. I have helped trend a number of progressive minded hashtags on Twitter, so I actually listen to the complaints of those who you mock, instead of just writing them off.

A regular Rosa Parks aren't you

If everyone now hates me because I was so convincing, does that mean I win?

I really don't get how you guys fell for the line about helping promote hashtags on Twitter though. Like anyone would brag about that.

Are you implying that there is a secret, semi-sinister cabal of soda overlords that use bribery, drugs, prostitution to promote certain soft drinks that may or may not contain illegal chemicals that turn drinkers into mindless zombie soldiers for the impending invasion of Earth's secret moon? That is preposterous! We would never waste our profits on hookers and drugs! Extortion and blackmail are much cheaper. No such organization exists. And if We they did exist, such actions would be wrong and immoral. Stay safe and drink Dr. Pepper. And don't ask questions about the mysterious sedans you keep seeing, they don't exist either.

How do you know it's not a picture of a medium sized piggy eating a extra-medium portion of ice cream?
My prejudice has been revealed.

Maybe because there's genuinely plenty of people out there who actually spout that kinda stuff for real. Hell I work with a few of them. But fair play sir you convinced me you were being serious

Breaking news: Chronically offended people will always find something to be offended about no matter how well intentioned it is.

You people need to check your privilege.

No seriously, check the very official chart made by a couple very authoritative Buzzfeed writers.

It's time for an intellectual opinion on this advertisement.

I see what it was going for and don't think it is offensive in any way, I do think its a stupid advert though but so are most adverts, I mean have you seen car adverts? They usually have nothing to do with the car and some adverts on TV these days just leave you wondering what it was that they were trying to accomplish with there advert. At least this one has the drink in the advert so you can tell what they are ordering you to buy from them.

Anyone who gets offended at a company trying unsuccessfully to use current events to generate a profit with yet another stupid advert clearly has too much time on their hands.

I think anyone who starts a hashtag campaign arguably has nothing but free time on their hands. Is that what graduate school's like these days, or are grad students in liberal arts able to count manufactured outrage towards their credit total?

LMAO. I did that and got 44/100, which is apparently "not privileged." I'm a cis white male that lives in Australia with his parents and little responsibility. That's just fucking hilarious.

Two questions. First, what do you think the ratio is on "people who think the ad is stupid" vs "people that are offended by the ad"? Second, how many of the former get mistaken for the latter?

I'm not offended by the ad as I think its silly to be offended by anything. I just think it misses the point. Protestors are trying to make peace and end the fighting when they are the only ones responsible for the fighting in the first place. The police would rather be home with their families. There is no mutual conflict, the aggression is completely one sided.

Apparently, I'm among the most privileged people in the world. This changes nothing. I'm going to continue living my life as I alway have.

The ad was dumb, and I get why the condescending nature of the oversimplification didn't go over too well. That said, the happy, hippy "peace, love, and fun times" nature of soda adverts has been a thing for a while so not surprised they tried what they did. Failed badly, but could certainly see the thought process leading up to it at least, especially given the attempted tone of previous marketing strategies. Hell, I can even give them a little more credit than most in seeing the attempt as a "ok everyone, this is getting scary, can we all please calm down a little?" sort of message, even from a company that would probably only do so because they know that the rabid politicization is bad for their business.

Then we add politicized people into the mix and you realized it had no hopes of working well. Some people just want to be outraged and feels everything disagreed with is an aggressive action against them or their beliefs personally. Shame.
