You actually found a match in AVP? I've spent over an hour searching for 2/3 people to join and got nothing. Different servers I guess.

I guess my best example would be a 4-person match of the original Halo I played against my Dad and his two gamer friends. I was more than double their combined score, almost at the limit, so they decided to gang up on me. At that point, I didn't die a single time and managed to play for the win.

They won't play with me any more...

I remember a few days ago, me and my friend were playing Black Ops split screen online team deathmatch on Launch. i think it was 6 vs 6, close to that. By the end of the match, we had won, but, me and my friend were the only one's who actually got ANY kills, and we got about 20-30 each (besides the guy below us who got like 2). Same on the other team aswell; They only had 2 competent players aswell.

that was fun.

In enemy territory, i once won entire match by myself. None of the opposing team bothered to protect the objectives, and nobody other in my team didn't try to attack them.

A billion times, this. No game gets me worked into a seething anger like Bad Company 2 (or any BF game) where I'm stuck on the hopelessly handicapped team. I mean, bullshitty deaths in Call of Duty are just individual infractions against the player, but being stuck on an awful team that won't carry out support duties, won't capture objectives, and utterly fails to keep the enemy spread to a manageable density, will last all game, and you will suffer for it, to the point where you couldn't carry your team to victory with a forklift. The best you can do when that happens is try to shoot for the highest score of the round by doing something lucrative off in your own corner of the map.

That's not to say that it's impossible for me to make a difference even when everyone else is clueless, though; I can barely remember all the times I've single-handedly stopped the attacking team on Isla Inocentes in the first phase with just a dart-capable launcher and tracking pistol. I've also held down the most hotly-contested capture point in Laguna Alta all by my lonesome for half-hours at a time under constant siege... but really, these are just exceptions to the rule. The only games that really let me pick up my team's slack with any regularity are the ones where I can slap down a high KDR and let my attrition kills bridge the gap (Halo and COD in particular).

The beauty of the situation is that if you are really able to make that difference happen - the moment you die, the moment your team loses. Playing Bad Company 2 on XBL can be really punishing at times. I imagine Willy Wonka controlling the matchmaking system so he can punish me for stealing the Fizzy Lifting Drinks. Issue I have with most of BC2 players is that while they have very good aim, their map awareness and surrounding awareness is close to zero most of the times. After months of playing BC2 I can tell you, while dying as a medic in a heroic action to "rez" that assault squadmate it happened to me only once, that he picked up my kit and helped me out. Oh well, I still love the franchise.

gears of war 2 on highway...i was up in one of the torque bow/sniper spawns and was only person left on my team...think there were 4 remainin players on other team (1 dead obviously)...now the sniper spawn is a bottleneck stairway...i saw the 4 players comin towards me pulled my smoke out chucked it, swapped to my shotgun killed 1 and rolled past the rest somehow...then leadin towards the closest startin spawn tucked behind a pillar killing another 1....i did this to other 2 using the multiple pillars/stairways in the area....

was crackin up laughin in disbelief to my friend in party chat (he had died earlier in the round)....how i managed to roll past 3 guys on a bottleneck i will never know

Most raids in WoW are like that for me. I'm usually far and away the top DPS in the raid and we hit the enrage timer (for those that haven't played, if you take too long the boss goes apeshit and wtfpwns everyone). I've had times where I double or even triple the dps of the second person.

I find that my performance directly relates to how well my team does. If I have a terrible team that is just spawning and dying, it makes it harder for me to actually get anything done. Call of Duty is the worst when it comes to this.

You guys are really making me want to pwn dem noobs. ...6 more hours.

I have that happen quite often (goddamn randoms, why are you always so useless?!).

Just last night I was playing a game of domination in Black Ops, and I had 12 captures and 7 defends by myself and my team still lost all because I was the ONLY one on my team anywhere near any of the domination points. The sad thing is, not only were my teammates trying to play deathmatch in a domination game, they weren't even good at THAT, not a single one of them even broke even with their k/d ratio.

Happens all the time to me in Invasion matches on Reach, this one time I captured both bases (the others didn't go down from 20)then carried the core literally a foot away from the end point, only to be purposely betrayed by my own team mate so he could carry it a foot. Also we were in overtime so we lost as soon as I died. I was pissed.
