I cannot seem to get into Fallout 3

I bought Fallout 3 last night and have been trying to play it all day...kinda. I just talked to Three Dog and he told me to go put something on the washington monument to find out where my dad is. The game seems good, the fighting is fun, even though a little unbalanced against me(like most FPS's), the characters are alright and I really don't have any solid complaints outside of little logical things, like if I put on a specific clothes set, the people who wear them should think I am one of them and I should be able to walk by them without them shooting at me.

But even though the game seems good, I just can't seem to get into it, the same thing happened with Bioshock and Oblivion, two very good games.

Anyway what I'm wondering is, why do you think I might not be able to, does anyone else suffer from this and does the game get more....Immersive I guess the word would be, later on?

I was sorta into Fallout but could never get into it enough to finish it, but I have way too many games. I would say try getting into the role playing aspect of it, like invent a character in your mind (like well basically if you want to be a hero or a bastard) and see how much fun you have figuring out how the game allows you to play into that role maybe.

Try not following the main quest line. Just explore n' stuff.
And if you couldn't get into this, or Oblivion, or Bioshock, then what games do you normally play? Solitaire? Mario Cart?

IMO, I enjoyed the game, however your not the first person to not like it. I didn't find it that great in the beginning, but then it grew on me later. Also the main storyline part isn't really that great.

Have you tried the mission the "The Power of the Atom". Speak to Mister Burke in Megaton, hes the quest giver. That mission is the best one.

You have been using V.A.T.S. right?

the game isn't really an FPS.

Take a break for a while and try again later. You don't have to like a game, but see if a rest helps.

Oops...When he killed the sheriff I shot him in the head 5 times....Don't think he'll be giving me a quest any time soon....

I love V.A.T.S., I actually love just about every aspect of the game, I just can't seem to get immersed like I normally do with games

Mister Burke isn't the sheriff. Your thinking of Lucas Simm's. Mister Burke is in Moriarty's place

What system are you playing on? If you're on PC, mod it until it's the game you want.

You're not required to obsess over popular games. There are several games I like, but I don't really want to play them all the time.

put all your XP points into explosives and energy weapons, not small arms like everyone else will tell you, explosive is actually the most important skill you need to work on, because then you don't trip any booby traps, and super mutants are susceptible to Laser Weapons even on a low level and we all know the leading cause of death in the wasteland is Super Mutants biting off your face. A high level Energy Weapon character isn't as effective against an ugly bags of mostly water but most enemies later on have armour.

Now go out and explore.

Agreed, that pisses me off in most game, especially Fallout
But even though the game seems good, I just can't seem to get into it, the same thing happened with Bioshock and Oblivion, two very good games.
Also the same happened to me for Bioshock. It was an amazing game, and I could see why it was so good, but it just seemed a little bland to me. Though the game did come out when CoD4 came out, so it was hard to compete with.

Go to the Republic of Dave in the top right hand corner of the map. That is all. You did buy the game of the year edition for the PC right? Since the Game of the Year Edition has all the DLC on it and doesn't make you install Games for Windows Live. And the PC version lets you play all the mods. Do some of the side quests but keep in mind you can't use power armor until a certain point during the main quest.

yeah I know, I told the Sheriff that he wanted me to blow up the town, so the sheriff went to arrest Burke and Burke shot him in the back, so I exacted justice into his face

Oh. No idea you could do that. Well you could always go to Tenpenny tower and speak to the ghoul who isn't allowed in. Thats a good mission. Or search for Lincoln's repeater.

There's the problem... the game is more immersive if you DON'T run around killing everyone. Try again, and don't antagonize the towns (immediately).

EDIT: Wow, I've been really misreading things recently... ignore me...

I disagree. Burke is a bastard and needs to be shot ASAP.
