Fallout 3/NV - you can hold down a button to drink continuously. I think it's A for the XBox360 and E for the PC. Ta-da. It's magical. So magical. I felt like such a dink. I had accumulated so many hours before I knew that. So...many...hours. I've known this for a while now, but, I was so blown away when I learned it; it's now my top moment.

And with that, my old standby answer for these threads has been taken.

It took me about 6 hours in Warframe to find out that you could wall-run.

I knew about all the flips and everything, but wall running?

Did they only recently add that in?

So I have over 350+ hours logged in TF2. A few weeks ago my internet went out, so I decided out of curiosity to play the tutorials for each class. At the end of the demoman tutorial, one of my most played classes, I found out for the first time you could charge up your sticky launcher to shoot stickies farther. I was awestruck that I didn't know this, and I proceeded to play a few rounds of 2fort practicing murdering snipers via charged stickies.

Also, in Half Life 2, I went through the entire game and Episode 1 without knowing how to sprint since I rebound "crouch" to the shift key and didn't notice how it unbounded sprint.

This made me think of that Whomp comic where Ronnie accidentally drinks out of the toilet while trying to grab ammo. And I just thought of a solution, where if you hit on the D-pad, it would snap and cycle through objects close to your crosshair.

I didn't know how to sneak past land mines in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. You aren't told that walking is effective, or even what the walk button is (the PC version requires you to press a toggle, unlike on the consoles, in which speed is controlled by the sticks). I just set them off on purpose whenever I saw them.

It never told you that? damn. Thats been the rules for mines in each deus ex, so it just came naturally to me


OT: For a while i didnt know you could just crawl to dodge mines and collect them in MGS. Wasted a LOT of time picking my way through the mine fields with the detector.

It took me a long time to realize all the features when probing in EVE.

It also took some time before i realized i could "spot" targets in Bad Company 2.

And honestly I enjoyed it a lot more that way. Running made the second playthrough piss easy. I hated myself for discovering that functionality.

My brother and I had the same problem. Although we had another one, which we both fell retarded for, where we would put our weapon away by un-equipping it in the Pipboy and then pressing X (on the 360) to put our hands down. It didn't occur to us to just hold down X for quite some time.

I also didn't know you could change the difficulty in Oblivion for a long time. I know there are a few others, but I can never remember them.

Obviously, my general performance in Enemy Unknown has vastly improved. The bigger UFOs being full of stuff that exists only to be sold for 20$ apiece helps oh so very much.

I recently discovered a chest in the Duke's Archives, in the game Dark Souls. This particular chest is in the room right below the staircase, the one you pass through before going outside to the crystal golems. In the chest is prism stones, which you can use to mark your way upon invisible platforms in the area ahead. I had no idea they were there(the stones) before this playthrough, and I have beaten the game 7 times at least.

My moment was when I was playing through FF7 for the first time, years ago. I was having a terrible time with the first Jenova fight, and I just couldn't get past it. My cousin said, "Weird, that fight was pretty easy for me. What materia are you using?" I replied: "What's materia?"

Turns out I just socketed everyone's weapons completely randomly sometime early in the game, then forgot about it. To my chagrin, linking two All materia was not particularly effective.
