This game is highly acclaimed but I have failed to find that thing that makes it so.

Tell me what makes it appeal to you, that allows you to play it and enjoy it at the same time so that I may find a certain something that I look for in games or something new to try. (I do not want to tell you what I like in games simply to not limit what you are willing to say you like about TF2 or what gives it, its longevity)

No comparisons of other games please.

I enjoy the hats, the humour of the community, the way Valve works to balance the gameplay, the different roles one can play during a game and the ability to leave a custom spray wherever you want.

Also, I like that it has health bars and cool melee attacks.

It has such a huge sense of humor, and it doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's also so cartoony that any violence there is (there isn't much) doesn't affect anything. It's not realistic at all, and realism is scrapped in favor of balance and fun.

That I feel can easily be abused :), and yes I am expecting to be flaimed. I seriously wish some of those 12 year olds were in the same room as me at the time. Bwahahaha!

I am in the same boat. I try to play it and like it but yet I always seem to be disappointing. It's a decent game and can be fun at times but I just feel like I would rather be playing other games when it comes down to it.

Just because a lot of people like it doesn't mean you must as well. Don't be a sheep. If you don't enjoy it, don't try to force yourself to.

It doesn't try to be realistic. Its funny, balanced, and just overall a good game. I am sorry you did not like it. :(

Now that I realised it, after all the competitive games like bad company 2 I have been playing I guess I have overlooked the possibility that I was approaching the game with the wrong mindset.

I'm the same way, but in my case it could just be my general sense of being burnt out by FPS's i'm damn sure if it was third person i'd enjoy it though

Not trying to force myself to. I just feel I am too narrow with my game preference and thus may not be able to get into games that would otherwise be very entertaining.

Find a class that interests you, most of them have serious depth to them, with exception to one.

All of the classes are insanely powerful, just pick one that suits your interests. I'd recommend medic at first to get a hand of the game, maybe bump it up to a Heavy, or a soldier, then go from there.

Easy. This is such a goofy and ridiculous FPS that I don't even give a crap if I die often.

Well popular games are usually popular because a lot of people find them fun. I love finding games that are cheap and still popular just to try them out. I mean I bought TF2 long after it was released because it was like 5 bucks or something. I occasionally play it and have fun but it tends to get old quickly. Definitely expand your gaming horizons as you never know what's out there you will enjoy.

i found it hard to get into on the pc because so many people are already leagues ahead of you, im a top player on ps3 and on 360, and i play the pc version, but because i picked it up last and sooo many people have been playing it longer, for someone like me who just isnt used to the pc controls, that and my ping ratio isnt very high so i get more lag on the pc:(

If you want any tips on Spy, Demoman, Engineer, or Soldier hit me up on steam and I'll give some tips I've learned. I'm best at Spy and Engineer, as those classes go hand in hand in some ways.

This is a sentence that can legitimately be said after a round of TF2.

So me, a gun-toting soviet and an angry baseball fan were all pushing a bomb towards the enemy when suddenly an Australian man threw a jar of urine at us. Soon after a crazy Texan's machine-gun sentries started gunning us down but luckily our crazed German medic came out with his healing gun and made the Soviet invincible whilst he threw down a sandwich for me and the baseball fan to enjoy. My baseball loving friend then noticed an invisible Frenchman sneaking up on us so he hit a baseball at him which had him stunned so I could burn him to death with my hadouken of fire.

You sold?
