So Yahtzee's job is to review games. Australia has strict anti-gaming laws. Why doesn't he just move? I mean yeah he's got a business there but he could have put more thought into it before he opened it. So why not move to the UK or USA?

I don´t like to put words in his mouth, but if i had to guess: Because he doesn´t want to.

That´s pretty much it. Plus he can just import them.

Because he doesn't have to.

End of.

Besides, "he should have put more thought into" is just plain old insulting (not to mention entirely irrelevant, as his business is there now and isn't going to move). He put LOTS of thought into it, that's why it's still open. It's where he calls home. He LIKES Australia. Why don't YOU just up and move?

And why don't you just move from... wherever it is you're from? Just go and live in Russia, why don't you? Or, you know, you could just stay where you are because it suits you just fine.

He moved away from the UK, probably for a good reason.

If I had to emigrate anywhere, it would probably be Australia.

Maybe he just likes living there? It's not like all games get banned over there, he's never going to run out. I don't really think it effects his business that much, other than maybe making him review a game later than other people every once in a while. People watch his reviews for the humour mostly, so not being first doesn't nearly as much of a difference as it would for IGN or something.

Moving to another country because of games seems kinda stupid if you ask me, and games aren't banned there, they might come out later and get censored but i don`t think that anyone gives a crap if he 'reviews' a game a bit later, i for one only watch his stuff for the laughs and not to decide if i should buy that game.

Is it just me or does 'The Escapist' lag like hell?

Because their is more to his life than gaming, and the costly process of moving away from his life in australia will be a bit of a bother?

Seriously, does this need answering?
That should've been the moment the thread ended.

And to expand a little, there is also the cost of moving to another country, finding a house, settling in to said house and of course, the Staff and Mods probably wouldn't want to deal with the bajillion-zillion "OMG WHERE IS ZP?!?!?!?!" threads that would crop up if he was to ever move.

Funnily enough, it's because of the latest ZP. It always lags around ZP time for me.

You make it sound as if we're never allowed to play games or something like some kind of catholic backwater ruled by chastity belts.

Um... we do have games shops here and they're stocked to the brim with probably everything you will find in an EB Games in the US and not just stocked full of educational games and barbies pony fantasy and Wii games. Sure we're yet to make any serious attempt to pass a law for R-rated games, but that's it. We're allowed to have pretty much anything else - and even then, some of the really popular R-rated titles are simply nerfed a bit so they're allowed an MA15+ rating and the people will still be happy.

Notice how he doesn't review any R-rated games?

Yeah. It's okay, it's really not as bad as you think it is in some other countries other than your own.

He was born and raised in England and, as far as I know, had nothing forcing him to leave. Therefore, we can assume that he moved to Australia cause he wanted to live there.

His continued presence in the country would suggest that, whatever he might say, the same thing that called to him as a British boy still calls now.

But you could have put more thought into this post before opening it.
I'm not even going to get into the reasons why your post is so ignorant and flat out wrong.
Fuck me, I feel stupider for reading that.

If his cushy gig ever fails to bring in the dough because Kirby's epic yarn was reviewed late, I'm sure he will move. Besides, no doubt he will get a better view of the flying pigs in a more rural area.

But they do have some of their more violent features ripped out.

Also I realize this was stupid once I gave it some thought. Please ignore my stupidity.

Well I'm sure that a good game cannot simply be sold or redeemed by its violence as a feature, but yes, I understand- the full experience of a game should be experienced as it has been designed.

And it's okay, I forgive you :p sometimes I am led to make similar mistakes about cultures outside the ones I am exposed to XD.
