Countries where Gamestop doesn't exist?.
Try Australia, I have yet to see a Gamestop store anywhere in my country.

OT: With my above comment stated, this isn't a common occurrence here. We have GAME, EB games, jb hi-fi and even places like dick smith and big w have acceptable game supplies. Especially game, because they treat you pretty well there.

[sub]Too bad EB games get most of the exclusive content...[/sub]
That's what I meant. Countries where Gamestop doesn't exist is an example of a place without Gamestops. My post was a bit ambiguous, I know. I am Australian.
Ah that was sarcasm. Sorry, it's a bit hard to judge these things over text. And yay for being Australian, is that treating you well?

Forgive me I couldn't help myself.

I'd like to see this thread be a place where people can post locations other than gamestop where they can shop to get good games.
Alright-y then.

Los Angeles (North Hollywood)
Game Dude (Sherman Way)

Burbank
Game Land (Magnolia Blvd)

Glendale
Game Fix (Brand Boulevard)

Pasadena
Play N Trade Video Games (Colorado Blvd)
Interact (Lake St)

Alhambra
Japan Video Games (Valley Blvd)

And that's just the indie stores. I haven't even mentioned major electronic stores that happen to carry video games:
Fry's
Best Buy

And then the other stores that have some sort of video game section:
Target
K-Mart
Wall Mart

And that's just the stores within 20 miles from my house.

In Sweden we got Webhallen(translates roughly to The Web Centre) and tons of Game. Webhallen used to be where I got my games, but after realising that England sells their games for over 50% cheaper than in Sweden I've been buying all my games from there. Figure I've bought pretty much all my PS3 games and a few 360 ones from The Hut.

Not sure if linking is allowed, since it could be seen as advertising, so if you're intrested; check it out. PM me for the site if Google fails you.

What was that one place called. It was something like EB games. its in (or was in) the Westmoreland mall.

and You live in PA?! So do I! On the Western side, by Pittsburgh.
EG Games? That's pretty much the Australian version of Gamestop... That said they usually have pretty good prices, disguised as a sale. I'm serious, I have never been in that store without being surrounded by "SALE!" banners... But yeah. They don't seem to be a bad store.
So anyway, I do also shop at a place simply called Game. It's pretty good.
Then there's the places that just sell all sorts of electronics, including games, like JB Hi-fi.

I usually go to EB Games. There's nowhere else in town to grab any games other than Big W (which usuallly has cheaper prices), but EB has local gamers working there who I get along with and I can match the prices anyway.
There are places like JB HI-FI and GAME in surrounding areas but I can't be bothered traveling to buy games.

You do realise that EB Games, which there are plenty of here, are actually owned by Gamestop. Its like a plague that is spreading across the world.

We do have plenty of retailers that sell games aside from EB and stuff though. The Warehouse, JBs etc. We even used to have an independent locally owned chain until that was bought out by guess who...EB.

Countries where Gamestop doesn't exist? I've honestly never gotten the big deal about used games sales. I mean seriously, one person loses a copy, the other person gets a copy. There's still the same amount of games in circulation. It's not like they're pirating it.
The problem with Used games sales is that the game may be in circulation, but any profit that it makes goes completely to the store that sold it. The Developers, Publishers and other people associated with the game get nothing. It does hurt publishers, but unlike piracy, it is legal, but the way gamestop does it is a tad unethical (They'll give you 10 bucks for 5 games if they're over a year old and then sell those games at 3 times the price each.)

Yes, but someone is losing their copy of the game so it evens out. But I can see why Gamestop's way of handling it could be a bit off.

In New Zealand, we used to have a national game store called "The Gamesman". But then that got taken over by EB Games (they still used the name for about a year). Its rather sad, because theres no other game stores except eb games in my town. Ive settled for mostly buying online and going to electronics stores like JB HIFI (though they sell used too...dilemma)

I liked the GameTraders that moved in at my local shopping center. Then a couple of months later, they packed up without even saying goodbye (they probably couldn't compete with EB Games aka GameStop). Now I'll have to stick to GAME and JB HiFi to buy games.

It's because when you buy a used copy, the people who made the game don't get a cut of that. So basically they see it as horrible.

OT: I generally try my best to stick with GAME rather than GameStop.

I hate GameStop.

And GAME have really good pc game deals all the time. I got 75% off Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising when I bought Dawn of War 2.

I think the problem with used game sales is that it discourages devs to make SP games. Don't whine when they'll be adding online subscriptions and shit everywhere. Heck, they are digging their own grave with this. Online-based games don't need discs.

I'm in Aberdeen, Scotland. There's 2 GAME stores and a HMV store here, but there's an awesome independent game shop called Solid Gold Games which always give you great deals, consistently friendly, good fun to hang around and talk to, they know their stuff (unlike many employees of the larger stores) and are more than happy to try and track stuff down for you if you ask. We all try to support them as much as we can.

That's so weird because a new games shop opened up right near my house by the corner shop call "advanced games".
