When I listen to music like Gorillaz...I really enjoy the rap parts as much as the other parts especially in Feel Good inc and Clint Eastwood.
Anyone else like this? Is it just how it flows or is it because it isn't about beating people up and fucking chicks...

For the record, that's De La Soul rapping. One of the best "alternative" hip hop groups of all time (alternative meaning awesome in this context). They have a lot of great songs.

If you like that, check out their albums, then A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots. Then maybe some Organized Konfusion.

Edit: I just looked up Clint Eastwood, and it's Del tha Funkee Homosapien rapping on that one. So look into him too. Automatik Statik was awesome. Also Blackalicious/Gift Of Gab is awesome. Jurassic 5. I can go on for hours.

Doggy Style by Snoop Dogg is a great album, and some of Eminem's stuff makes me laugh when go goes off on a rant.

Public Enemy were just awesome in every way.

Screw Nu-Metal, it was Public Enemy and Anthrax who did the first crossover.

Well rap isn't the first thing that comes to mind when someone sez Gorillaz but now that I look back they sure have collaborated with alot of artists haven't they? If you like that you should check out that Santana song: Maria.

I love Gorillaz, they're one of my favorite bands, and I'm a metalhead. Those 2 songs you listed are pretty much the only ones that are rap songs. All the other ones are genre-less unique epics that will never leave your head.

Holy shit, you mean there is more to Hip Hop then sex and violence?

You should look into that, there is some pretty great stuff out there.

There's great stuff in every genre if you know where to look.

If you can call it rap I love dan le sac vs scroobius pip (even if their name is a unnecessary mouthful)

They to seem have brought rap back to it's literal meaning; poetry to music.

That aside Eminem is brilliant no matter how popular he's become. He's one of the few people who sings about things that actually matter while still having a sense of humor.

Eminem usually raps about being abused as a child and raping women... I like Eminem, he has a sense of humour in his raps.

I also like DMX "X gon' give it to ya" as it is truly the definitive rap song. It's about how awesome he is basically.

For me, it's mostly just Gorillaz as well. Still, playing San Andreas, driving really fast, listening to rap, feels just right. But that may have another reason. ( http://xkcd.com/103/ )

Welcome to the wonderful world of GOOD Rap. We're glad you're here, and hope you stay. I'm not sure if you're interested in learning more, but here are some other artists you may like.

K'naan

A Somalian rapper whose songs range from upbeat, fast paced tracks fit to start parties, to slow, somber, and beautiful, often incorporating his native Somali, presenting you with some of the most melodious music I've ever heard.

Aesop Rock

This underground gem is one of the most talented lyricists I know. His songs are often slow, almost lethargic, with a "I just woke up" kind of sound, that's fun to just vibe to. In particular, if nothing else, check out his tracks "Daylight", "Night Light", and "No Regrets". The first two are related, with Daylight providing the base lyrics, while Night Light is a distorted, darker twist of slightly changed lyrics.

Daylight- "All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day and put the pieces back together my way."

Night Light- "All I ever wanted was to pick apart the day, swallow up the pieces, spit 'em at your species. Beached in the city of lost barnacles and leeches, night light got me when the daylight turn to evening."

As for No Regrets, it tells the story of a girl who pursues her dream of being an artist.

I could go on for a while, I'm sure, but I'll leave you with those two for now. If you check those out, and are interested in more, you can always message me, or check out <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Mic-Club-The-Escapist-Hip-Hop-Group>The Escapist Hip Hop Group for more.

Have a nice day :)
