Math is awesome! You're just bad at it!

Or you're teacher has lots of typos and since you don't understand the subject you are further prevented from learning it by your teachers inability to type.

Either way, I think math is awesome.
Hmm, can we mix the two together?
I mean, I can the potential of me liking math - I guess I've just yet to have a decent teacher. I haven't found one who has given me enough inspiration to get myself buried in the subject. I mean, my English teacher is great at that, but my Math teacher... he's just... How do I put it? I feel like half the time, he might not know what he's talking about. He once told me how he'll ramble about something completely irrelevent for 15 minutes, to see how long we can hold on.

Can't we use that time to do some learning instead of him shoving it at us on our way out the door to do at home?
Yeah, I know. I used to hate math, but then I had an awesome Geometry teacher and I was like "SWEETNESS!" and yeah. I do math all the time now. You just need to get into it. And once you're interested in it, you'll be good at it. Math is not something you are intrinsically good at. You just have to like it.

im suspecting that since you do not have a previous number of dollars in the bank account then they want you to use a variable. then i assume that the answer is 425+n. were n is the amount of money she has left in the bank.

Algebra is the bane of my existence.

Hopefully geometry will be easier.
Try high level trig and calculus... They make me teh sad face

Question is wrong, as others have said. All I wanted to say is that you can't do science without doing math.

Math is easy. Im two years ahead in math. Im taking Algebra 3 as a freshman. The thing about math is, if you miss something earlier in the year, your fucked. Math continuosly builds on itself
Okay, now is algebra 3 as a freshman better or worse then algebra 2 honors as a freshman?

Something makes me think they are the same...

Yeah, I found that out today. And I know that, I just really need to get interested in math. Or maybe the question just presented a challenge for me because it wasn't worded right? I did all the other assigned questions perfectly fine.

You should stop taking advanced math and start re-doing your English classes ;D
There you go. Now that sentence is fixed ;)
my ... uhm ... dash button was broken ... yeah i'll go with that.

and OP, when i used to get math problems to solve and the question was wrong i would skip it and point it out later, saves me from actually having to do them

Math is stupid. There really is no point in it past the basic forms unless you plan on being an engineer or (and here's the kicker) a math teacher; it's a vicious, vicious cycle.

I'm currently in trigonometry, and I guarantee you: it does not get any less pointless.

Sorry, I ment Honors Algebra 2. If I was taking algebra 3, I would be 3 years ahead. From what I know, I think they might be the same at first, then the similarities would end

Taking honors Algebra II as a freshman, and taking Honors Pre-Calc next year. It's pretty pointless to most people, but I know I'm doing something involving math, so I'm keeping with it until senior year, and on.

To all the people who seem to think maths is useless, here is a short list of the things people have achieved using it:
Putting man on the moon (Newtonian mechanics)
Putting communication satellites into orbit (more Newtonian mechanics)
Computers (we wouldn't know how transistors worked if it wasn't for the maths in Solid State physics, also Boolean (computer logic) algebra is a type of maths)
Nuclear power (quantum/nuclear physics)

so in short, no, maths is not useless.

I've always really wanted to be good at math, and I try really hard, but I'm still horrible at it.

I started taking algebra classes when I was in seventh grade (so, what, about 12) and now I'm 22 and I just failed it in community college this past semester... D:

See, if it were something I could write essays about, I'd be great. I'm good at essays and words and stuff like that. I think my problem with math is it's too concrete. There are definite answers and definite ways to arrive at these answers. I don't think like that. XD My brain's not wired that way!

Well if she withdraws 25 a week and has withdrawn a total of 425 after six weeks then she had atleast 425. The 6*25 doesn't really come into it if she has withdrawn a totla of 425.

I don't hate any form of math, just word problems that make little sense like this one. Who spends that much money on shoes? On a probability question I had today, the mom made her kids spin a wheel every Saturday to decide what chore they had that day, and for some reason vacuuming had a space twice as big as that of every other option.
