CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES, THIS IS MY LAST RESORT
Nostalgia be damned, that album is fucking legitimately brilliant.
I've just recently sat down and started working out a piano arrangement for that. I mean, I know the basic riff, but it sounds sparse on a piano. I do this a lot, taking songs that shouldn't be acoustic and making them so. I used to do an acoustic "Falling Away From Me," but Korn killed the joke by doing it themselves with no sign of humour.

Anyway, I still listen to Last Resort occasionally, along with Linkin Park's first album (and only their first, because in the spirit of this thread, I hate Linkin Park except that first album), and a couple other bands.

Also, just because:

(Flaw, not me. My version would suck more as it'd be on a 200 dollar keyboard)

Your quoting made me notice that this thread was in gaming, not off-topic, so now I feel like a wally.

I hate companions of all kind, except Dogmeat. Everyone loves Dogmeat.

I don't really care for open-world sandboxes, but I loved the Hong Kong in Sleeping Dogs.
highly agree to this, and i'll add crackdown to it. any other sand box game i fucking loathe with a passion though, especially GTA games.

OT: i loathe PvP style gameplay usually (especially online/rpg/mmo/diablo style shit, fuck all of it to hell) but in dark souls I don't mind it (when it's somewhat equal/fair)

I do not like Rhythm games. Except Sequence, because it has magic.

Okay more than that. Because they used rhythm style gameplay in an innovative way to turn it into an RPG with an extremely frantic and entertaining battle-system that is highly accessible even for people like me with all the rhythm of a zombie.

It also had a surprisingly good (if somewhat pretentious near the end) story, with very strong characterization.

Also a really wonderful soundtrack.

That just means you prefer a different style to in a specific genre, it's the same with music, most might not like Jazz but only enjoy Miles Davis' stuff
Interestingly, Miles Davis is not a great example of Jazz. The instrumentation is a Jazz lineup but Miles Davis used modes instead of keys which were the only thing used at the time and so at the time his stuff was not very jazzy, although Jazz kinda changed to be more like him and OOPS GETTING A BIT DISTRACTED HERE.
OT: I don't like stupid hair or overlarge weapons or stupid 'quirky' things that come off as more annoying than cute or grinding (so everything JRPG) but I really like the Monster Hunter series. Maybe not so much playing, as I spend so long faffing about and wasting time, but that was a great series.

I usually take a disliking or hatred to the linearity of Modern Military Shooters, but in Black Ops and Black Ops II it doesn't bother me, in fact in the case of the former, I think the linearity adds to the atmosphere of some of the missions even if said missions are just forced stealth sections.

I'm not a fan of excessive micro-managing resources and gear and abilities, but Final Fantasy Tactics made it enjoyable. Multi-classing, tons of abilities, GEEEEAAAARRRR! I spent a fair amount of time sifting through my A, B and C teams to make sure they had the gear and experience they needed to get things done, for the good of the guild.

In that same line of thought: Game Dev Tycoon. It doesn't take long before there's a crap-ton to pay attention to simultaneously. It's important that there be as little downtime as possible, meaning you're always looking around at your employees, using your research, but not too much research because there are engine parts to research to make better games but you have to train which takes time research and money and you have to make games which means paying very close attention to how much of your time and energy are focused on different aspects of games which there are different configurations for each genre and I know that I should just make the games I want but it all comes down to internal game logic and math so is there a theoretical "sweet spot" for every game aspect and*SMACK*
... Okay, I'm better now.
And yet, for all there is to stress about, I flippin' love this game. Seeing my games sell big is the kind of simple, yet potent pleasure that I can't get enough of, and games don't have enough of.

I'm starting to get sick of games that force you down a narrow corridor disguised as a big, adrenaline-filled action piece. Tomb Raider was a big offender in this manner, with at least four or five of those sequences. But in Uncharted, it seems natural, because the cinematic nature of the game makes these scenes seem perfectly natural.

I hate Dragons and their folklore but I loved them in Dark Souls. I have no rational explanation, just do.

I loathe watching golf and I don't play but I love classic style golf video games.

Similarly applies to soccer but to a much lesser extent on both sides.

Love watching and playing rugby but get utterly annoyed with the lack of rugby video games or their often poor quality.

I don't think you can genuinely hate something if there's an example of it you like. If you like the turn based combat in Pokemon, then you don't hate turn based combat. In fact you like turn based combat, you just don't usually like other games that happen to have it. Your reason for not liking those other games must be for a deeper reason than because they have that combat style.
I wouldn't say that. I like turn based combat in poke'mon, but I've never found another game I can play with it that I don't think "This is bleeping stupid, why would anyone fight like this?". An exception to something doesn't mean I like the something always.

Could be that the combat is superb compared to another game that has a ton of boring Dragons and folklore *cough* Skyrim *cough*.
Also the game starts off by saying the Dragons were wiped out, which means CREATIVE BOSS DESIGNS THAT AREN'T JUST DRAGONS! Sure there were like 3 dragons in Dark Souls (if you count the DLC's) but at least their designs had some imagination behind them other then: Oh you're level 30? Heres the same dragon from before... BUT YELLOW!
he's also still as easy as the not yellow one...

OT:
I hate... no, despise anime tropes, yet I can watch Gurren Lagann with all its intentional tropes and stand up cheering at everything the characters do. Because good writing and dialogue.

I hate fighting games that are broken beyond belief, but I can always play MVC2 and have a blast.

I hate... or in nicer terms, got really tired of turned based RPGs, then Persona came into my life, slapped me in my face and made me love it again.

I hate when a ton of content gets ripped from a game that could have made it fantastic, but I still enjoyed Aliens Colonial Ma...
HA!!! Gotcha! ...Bioshock Infinite.

I hate regenerative health, except in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Without it the game would be damn near impossible.
I hate linear shooters, but I LOVE the first 3 Halo games (Also Reach and ODST). I'm honestly not sure why I like it so much.
I hate horror games, but I love the first F.E.A.R game (the second one is okay though)
I hate hack 'n' slashers, except for DMC (including the reboot) and MG: Rising.

In terms of Spider-Man 3, I didn't really care for the rest of the movie but the Symbiote and how it effects others (or should I say infect) was incredibly well done.

But yeah, spot on for Pokemon. Like Pokemon, don't like turn-based at all.

I hate singing except when it's actually where it's supposed to be. In a song. And even then, it can make or break the song for me.
