Yeah, I know, "OMG! YOU REED UTUBE COMENTS?". Yes, I do. Because it is just so enjoyable to see how some idiots don't even know how to spell the easiest words imaginable, then ranting about them being complete idiots.

But, what I absolutely hate seeing on the comments there, is all these debates on stupid stuff, that have nothing to do with the actual video. Just morons being morons. You have no idea how many times I have had to type, "Hey dude, how about you actually post something about the video? K?".

It just makes no sense to me, and what urks me more is how it is always about religion. "Religion this, religion that, i'm Atheist, you shouldn't be," blah blah blah. I am sick of reading that kind of crap. I just abide by this rule: If you don't like what the person posted, ignore it an move on with you life. Don't write a wall-o-text either talking about How you should believe in god and if you do he will take you up to his kingdom, or how Christianity is completely retarded and if your a Christian your automatically retarded.

So, anyone else get sort of annoyed by this stuff?

Right now on another forum, I'm dealing with an idiot who's having a go at me for being "obsessed" with WoW, just because I've occasionally mentioned the game. He is absolutely adamant that I am at fault and that I am the one in the wrong. His incredible smugness and hypocritical attitude (ironically he claims to be Christian and often reprimands us for not acting Christ-like enough) is mind-boggling. He also lacks the ability to read, it seems. He'll straight-out ignore anything I say that goes against anything he says, and continue acting like everything he said holds true.

I'm a tad annoyed with the fact that he's been allowed to post for so long when he is clearly a detriment to the forum we're on.

YouTube-wise, I noticed a Sylosis song on YouTube and I liked it a lot, but its comments section soon got infested by yet more religious/anti-religion people looking for an angry "debate" (read: childish prolonged name-calling session). That annoyed me a bit, but I told them all to shut the fuck up, and then I moved on.

I hate them and thats why I avoid them.

Actually a friend of mines showed me a youtube video dedicated to dumb youtube comments and arguments. I believe it was called "Stupid Comments" and it was pretty funny.

To be fair it happens on here all the time. You will constantly see people going off on a rant about a game they dislike even when the thread wasn't asking for an opinion on it.

Example:

OP: "Who is your favourite Halo character?"

Ranter: "None, I hate Halo because [insert bile filled rant here]."

Fair enough, but at least here everyone has the decency to state actual opinions rather than just calling everyone who doesn't agree with them the first insult that comes to mind.

Oh yes. That's definitely a positive, if the comments on here were anything like Youtube I wouldn't have been here more than an hour.

This is why we can't have nice things [cat] is very much applicable to youtube comments. All that happens is someone's roughly on topic post is quoted/derailed by other people and then a molehill is turned into a mountain. To see the source you'd need to read page 1 through to 25, opposed to wondering wth?!? when you read comments on page 27.

Also, learn to use interwebs op.

Yes... yes I do. I swear, whenever I go on Youtube just to listen to some good music, watch a let's play or just be entertained in general, I always have to see that one person that goes completely off-topic from the video in the comments and spew their views on religion or racial preference. I mean I want to say to those people how nobody else cares what they think but then I know it would probably just feed the fire for a flame war because a lot of people on Youtube are extremely voilatle towards other people's opinions.

This is why I personally don't comment on Youtube, negative any comments that go off-topic from the video, and move on.

Odd thing on YouTube, I replied to a fellows comment and he's just like "you're right and I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else with my previous comments, I don't mean to insult anyone from Britain".

Manners do exist on YouTube, I knew it!

But yes, I have observed a shit tonne of religous debates in the comments for videos you wouldn't even think would inspire religous debates.

I half expect to see a SpongeBob video on YouTube one day with "lulz, 1slam blowz" as the comment which sent the video to all hell.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it was happening right now.

Sorry, but this came across as just an arrogant and spell-check approved version of the very same comments you post about. Yes, we know people are irritating, but this is well-trod ground and you're digging up the earth again about something that you intentionally subject yourself to in what seems to be some bizarre superiority complex we all seem to share here at the Escapist, myself 'unironically' included.

Just...ignore it. We all know people arguing lamely is irritating, so why are you telling us again?

Whenever I go on youtube and listen to a song that has nothing to do with religion but has the word god in the title I scroll down to the comments and BANG! A massive 'debate' if you can call it that of ignorant, bored morons arguing about 'your religion is wrong and you will go to hell' or 'you believe in god so your a prick' blah blah blah... I enjoy a religious debate but that is not the place for it and THAT is not debating its just insults being thrown around by people who suddenly have balls because their online but would never talk to people like that face to face. Another thing is people seem totally oblivious to the irony of what they're saying; someone who claims to be a christian might start flinging hate and insults to an atheist even though Christians are supposed to turn the other cheek, or an atheist who says this or that is just their opinion but then proceeds to scream at people when they don't agree with said opinion. I could rant about that for ages but I don't think its healthy so I'm going to stop now.

I actually had a civilized debate on youtube once!

Granted, it was about Fallout, so I don't think it is on the magnitude of something like religion, but, hey, the guy was polite, and we both agreed that we both had differing tastes and courteously left it at that.

Reading comments on Youtube is like poking a skunk with a stick. It seems funny to do but you end up regretting it later. Although the facepalm worthy comments can be entertaining, and some debates seem to be the result of a backwoods person with a computer and too much time.

Youtube.com, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. (Aside from a few select sites best left unmentioned)

I have a youtube horror story of sorts.

I was watching a clip from Scrubs (The doctor toilet part), and looking away. The guy talking sounded like a Black man, but to my surprise when I looked at him he was white as day. So I commented how I had mistook the guy for black, becuase of his voice.

And a bunch of idiots got on my case for being racist. Have never logged into my youtube account since then.

Most of the time i would agree with you. The other day however i had an interesting debate with an american over healthcare and constitutional reform. On the whole it was a polite and well reasoned debate with interesting points from both sides. We went completely off topic from the actual video though XD
So what i'm saying, is that once in a very rare while, its possible to have an interesting and polite debate on youtube.
