because occasionally someone will do something nasty and you find it necessary to equate random, unrelated events to the entirety of human experience.
This. I have the niggling feeling that the amount of lost faith in humanity on these forums is inversely proportional to the amount of lost virginity. Just a hunch, mind you.

And I don't care.

This is nothing but a tired juvenile revelation that most people come to realise is full of crap.
So well and elegantly put.

That was totally sarcasm, Danny, but I actually totally agree with you.

You look at some of the things we can do these days. Some of the medical advances, some of the things we can do with computers. I am talking to you through a series of tubes! Er... I mean wires and electrical signals! And we may be on opposite sides of the planet!

You look at all that stuff and try to tell me that humanity is hopeless. Just try.

Never was a truer word spoken.

OP - yes, we get it, the guy's a jerk. Am I a jerk? Mmmmm, yeah, probably, but then I'm an idiot in his mid-twenties, so I'm morally obliged to be a jerk. However, the question should be: are you a jerk? If the answer is yes, then why haven't you replied to everyone calling them jerks? If the answer is no, then you have some small modicum of faith in yourself, thereby making the thread title invalid, unless you're an alien of some sort. Should that be the case: may I shoot you?

Come back when you're forty and if you still don't have any faith in humanity, haven't committed suicide or haven't been committed to an institution, and you may ***** all you like. At least then you'll have something meaningful to ***** about.

Seriously, though, you'll get over it (almost whether you like it or not).

But the brochecure said there would only be a few ostriches, this is a terrible vacation. sorry couldn't resist.
Now back on topic..... You seem to be taking a bunch of random events and making a conculsion about something. That would be like me listening to the song friday and from listening to that concluding all music makes my ears bleed, which is not the case.

Well unfortunately if you try to have love for humanity, you gotta embrace that a lot of people are dumbasses or flat out evil.

... it's really not easy. Love is never easy, as cheesy as it is to say :S

Welcome to the club? Although, the example that you listed just sounds like you got outsmarted. Yeah, most people are assholes just savor the few that are actually decent/likeable.

I think I have seen this phrase so much my mind was actually blocking out one word in the sentence. I say this because for a split second I thought I read "I have faith in humanity"
Looking closer, because I was very happy for a moment, I finally saw the "No" and then my hopes were gone.

I feel that I have faith in humanity. Everyone loves to focus on the bad that happens but in reality there is a lot of good stuff that happens as well... Best example I can come up with is the Desert Bus Run that LRR does... do they have to play the most god awful game ever made? No... they don't, but they do to raise money for a good cause. This and many more things Give me hope.

I believe the main problem is parenting. That parents now of days don't try to discipline their children as much. I am not for child abuse or even the belt, but kids get away with so much now because of 'lawsuits' and these fears that people get if they are 'to hard' on their children who grow up without a good sense of morality. I could be wrong of course, but I really don't think parents of that guy would be proud for what he did to you, so just consider the concept of immaturity as well. There are always reasons, but my main one is that they were not taught to care for others.
And while somewhat counter-intuitive there is also an issue of over-parenting here, which continually reinforces that the kid is the center of all things. Kids do not need to be responsible for their actions because their parents are taking care of everything, and parents don't need to be responsible because they're busy being their kid's "best friend" rather then their kid's parent.

...for many reasons!

It would take forever to go over all of them, so...I'll just give an example of what happened at work the other day. There was a guy who ordered a large soda, so, I gave it to him. Then after drinking part of it, he asks how much it is, despite there being a GIANT menu sign behind the counter, and so I tell him, and he says "Nah, that's too much."

So...he dug through the tip jar for the cash, handed it to me, then left. I was so stunned that I didn't even say anything...and he didn't even give me enough to pay for the thing. (Sales tax...)

Why are people such assholes?
he just shop lifted right infront of you call the police

They probably followed me here, my bad.
Thank you, sir, for making my day! But, a question... how is it probably? Surely you knew?!
Shh I'm not actually omniscient, I just have to keep up this disguise so my followers remain obsequious. Part of my plan to conquer Luxembourg with an army of ostriches!

I have very little faith in humanity for much bigger reasons than this (although this falls under the reason of "stupidity,") but I kind of agree with you. People are assholes. Sadly, everyone expects us to get over this and move on. Yet we didn't ask to be here, so why should we let other humans ruin our life experience?

So you have no faith in your mother/father/loved ones/friends and such? cause they're all part of the humanity you're making a sweeping generalization of.

As for why, well, probably cause they can be. Though They dont htink they are, and only some people do. I dont know anyone thats so universally hated that no one agreed with them.

Besides, its rather... well... rather like the people you're ranting against to make the statement I have zero faith in humanity.

3 words for you... The Dallai Llama.

Now a question... Why are people so willing to ignore the plentiful examples of humans not being assholes whenever they feel like being cynical?
Please don't call it being cynical. That's not cynical, it's being a whiny *****... cynicism can be a wonderful thing, and I should know, my own mother called me a cold hearted cynic. :D

OT: I don't think I've ever been somewhere where drinking from a drink I hadn't yet paid for (except where you pay your bill at the end, in a pub etc) would have been met with anything less than a sharp demand for money. You did not do this.

LOL, oh Luxembourg, the height of ostrich imperial ambition! I thought you'd start off with something easier, like... I don't know... Belgium, perhaps!
