The problem with threads like this is the fact that there has been least over 100 other threads about people losing hope to humanity.

If you'd only told about that incident and named thread bit less "used" i could honestly take this seriously.

Lesson folks
If you want to rant about bad happenings do not ...
i repeat do not use words "lose, humanity, faith, etc" in title
to even shine little bit out from other threads.

And to topic

Shit happens and people are idiots.
And yes i pull the socratean trick by admidtting fact i as human am a idiot thus allowing generalization.
Hurray for studying platon/socrates at the moment

...for many reasons!

It would take forever to go over all of them, so...I'll just give an example of what happened at work the other day. There was a guy who ordered a large soda, so, I gave it to him. Then after drinking part of it, he asks how much it is, despite there being a GIANT menu sign behind the counter, and so I tell him, and he says "Nah, that's too much."

So...he dug through the tip jar for the cash, handed it to me, then left. I was so stunned that I didn't even say anything...and he didn't even give me enough to pay for the thing. (Sales tax...)

Why are people such assholes?
When he said it was too much you could of just said don't worry about it its on the house. It's a fucking large soda who cares? Ok, so he went through your tip jar and acted like an asshole. Just the next time he comes in, if he does, refuse service to him. You have that right.

Then instead of posting on the forums about your bad day you should be finding a better job where you don't have to work with people because you obviously can't handle it.

I know. Like those people who complain about the most trivial of things when others are fighting wars for them, when millions of people in third world countries are dying, when people can be executed for speaking out against their government. It's amazing how many people trivialize these things while playing up their own, at best, minor annoyances.

I hate people like that.

I have zero punctuation in human-ity. Bazinga.

OT: So an asshole stole from the staff and used the stolen money to underpay for a drink he didn't finish? It's hardly genocide.

People are assholes because we constantly find new ways to destroy ourselves and our environment, not because some guy you met the other day doesn't know how much a large soda costs.

Obviously because he is unaware that Friendship is Magic.

I don't know what I would have done in your situation to be honest... that's ridiculous. Glad I never had anything like that happen to me when I cashiered at Kroger (although someone did try to shortchange me. Yeah, you're really subtle when you try to pay for a $.99 pack of gum with a fitty).
OH MY GOD! rainbow dash's hair is the american flag! OH MY GOD!!!!! im a MLP-knower-abouter.

OP: yes. exactly. rebel by killing people and bowing shit up. then youll also be an asshole. or maybe you already are but dont realise it. im definatley an asshole. ill tell ya.

I wonder if I could eat for free that way, just order a burger from McDonalds and then wander off without paying. Are they really going to bother chasing me or calling the police?
Naaa wouldn't work, you see at fast food places like that where shit is cheap they ask for the money THEN give you the food, the mistake this guy did was he bought someone he hardly knows lunch then just expected out of the goodness of his heart that the man would pay him back. Which might I add he afore mentioned he had been given MANY reasons NOT to do just such a thing... Sounds like the this guy was never taught not to associate with strangers...

Personally I blame the anomity of huge cities, I live in a small town and if... When that happens, the person who did it ends up having a LOAD of bad shit happen to him. Hell I know someone that tried stealing the money from a fund raiser for the school a few towns over, he was beaten by the whole town, had his hand broken, then was tied to post for a day and a half before getting hospitalized. My brother applied for a job a few months ago to work at the mine near there and they denied him because of association with this guy...
People need consequences for their actions or they just won't give a shit... given I admit the above scenario is a bit extreme but even if you like said HEY that guy just stole money from the tip jar! Then he would have been up shit river without a paddle.

I was wondering when someone would point that out. I'm glad you think I sound young- most of my peers beret me for sounding too old. I must be getting frustrated that yet another teenager has lost faith in mankind for the most trivial of reasons and based on such limited experience.

I'm Eighteen, actually. Yes, I think I have, in this particular case. Just as I could lecture someone on basic Economics or the UN or how to live as a carer. As she said, age is not a prerequisite to experience for the most part. I'm questioning her experience, not age. The latter has little to do with it other than serving as a shorthand for the former.

Power to the peaceful.
You're pointing out the idealism of my avatar as if it somehow takes away from the point I'm trying to make to the other person, even though the two things are entirely unrelated and you'd see from many of my other posts that I'm far less idealistic than that picture might lead you to believe.

And you might want to edit your post - makes you look like you're arguing with yourself.
Fixed.

Welcome to the club? Although, the example that you listed just sounds like you got outsmarted. Yeah, most people are assholes just savor the few that are actually decent/likeable.
Really? You consider that 'outsmarting'?

Did you read the rest of the comment where he dug into the tip jar and used that to pay (not enough) and went off on his marry way?

We develop ways to destroy our enemies and protect ourselves, yes. We ruin the environment to better our lives too, that's understandable. At least those two have a greater purpose than wanting a soda.

Because we live in an era where everyone thinks they're superman. The answer to solve your situation? Well...there's the turn the other cheek and show that you're better than the apes around you thing, but if you like, you can always headbutt the next ass that does that even if you know he'll kick your ass and laugh at you after your attempt to hurt him. The thing to learn is to stop caring. Either ignore them or go down fighting taking down as many as you can. You probably feel really crappy but believe me that pretty much everyone has felt like that at least once. It's all about attitude...just show'em who's boss next time.

Yeah I read it and I know, it was terribly terribly unethical. But since he broke such an obvious norm it's probably the result of some mental problem he has.

Now, things we should really be concerned about is what all of humanity does (or rather, problems that most of us in the western world indirectly or directly contributes to) and what is considered politically correct despite leading to the misery of millions.

And I don't care.

This is nothing but a tired juvenile revelation that most people come to realise is full of crap.

I can't help but feel that such an accusation as 'people are assholes' or 'I have no faith in humanity' require such a profound lack of empathy as to border on the sociopathic. More of an incitement upon the speaker than the subject of their ignorant, arrogant bile.
Well put, Danny.

Good for you. Fortunately for all involved humanity doesn't really need you to have faith in it.
Why are people such assholes?
Because shit happens and bad people exist. We are still better than every other animal out there. The only moral high ground they have over us is they don't ***** all the time about their species with an overused phrase that they think will make them look kewl.

Hi guys, I lost faith in the entirety of humanity so I thought I'd come to a discussion board frequented by human beings and discuss with you this revelation and perhaps gain a deeper understanding of why humans are so aweful, because I have faith that you guys can come up with something to support it or debunk it.

Oh wait.....
