My take on it:
For starters reality TV is not reality. It's entertainment that doesn't have to pay actual actors and writers. None of the stuff is scripted, but you can sure as hell bet there are guys off camera telling the people on camera to play up or tone down certain events and aspects of themselves. The people on the show are doing the show for the same reasons people go on game shows and the same reasons actors act - a chance at fame and money.
This show may not work out because the premise tips just a little to far into "we like to watch people suffer and stress out for our amusement" territory, and because the winners get something that is a bit more controversial then normal. Still I hardly see this as any worse the a bunch of men or women making asses of themselves all for the sake of a shot at a doomed relationship.
My thought on why this concept fills you with anger rather then just enough contempt to change the channel? Because cracked told you so, and that is placing way to much faith and support in a comedy website that twists studies, facts, and whole sciences around to make amusing list articles.
