I get screwed by the internet all the time.
The phone line here isn't filtered properly. As a result, every time someone calls or someone here uses the phone, the entire network goes down. Bam, no more internet connection. Also, when the broadband's capped, the speed is significantly slower than dial-up. Like, under a third of dial-up - if it's even working. The network gives out occasionally, before eventually coming back on. But even when the network is up, the net usually isn't working at all. Also, my flatmates tend to use up the entire 30gb cap in less than a week. And I have to put up with sub-standard internet (or none at all) for maybe 6 or so weeks before it comes back on. During one month, the entire cap was used in ONE day.
And the thing is, my flatmate "R" could fix it just by filtering the damn lines properly. It's his freaking job, he does it for a living!
I just found out, though, that my flatmate "J", who's typically the one who uses up the entire cap in such a short time every month, is most likely going to move out because he got terminated from his job (he spent too long overseas without telling his employers), so that's that problem solved. Of course, I hope any new flatmates we get aren't going to be stupid with the net. Of course, if "R" just filtered the bloody lines properly, that'd be half the entire problem gone in an instant. But no, he just seems to refuse to do it.
As you can probably tell, my internet's just reset back to broadband speed for the month, which is why I'm able to post, let alone bring up Google. I just hope that the broadband actually stays broadband the whole month this time.
And to those who might tell me to just move out: yeah, I'm not planning on moving out from a house where I get to pay only $50 rent a week any time soon.
