put some arctic silver between your hsf and cpu; it will provide better temps/performance
I have. Right now I'm weighting the heatsink down, waiting for the 360 to overheat and resolder. The cup is full of sand.
...and you put a straw in it?
Actually it was a stick I found on the beach.

Seems like theres no system that JUST plays games anymore... Goddamn Wii wants to make me exercise, PS3 wants to dryhump my TV and be my blueray spooge player, and the XBOX? Just goddamn fries up like an egg from running it.

So what can I do to keep it cool? I'll have it out in the open on a table, prolly with a minifan blowing over it.

I'm pretty sure the new consoles have motherboards th- all you need to know is that they've made adjustments so that the newer Xbox 360s don't heat up as much. Or you could, you know, pray. Praying works good.

Oh, and Doc:
You, sir, are a God

Failing that, some kind of demi-god

And you are?

I'm moderately disappointed. I was hoping that you'd given up, and decided to repurpose the broken husk of your 360 as a stylish coaster.

As my laptop is from the UK, and I am in Australia, I have to use an adaptor to plug it in to the mains. Unfortunately, the only adaptor I could find is a bit shite (it sparks when you plug it in.) Since it only has 2 prongs, it started sliding down in the socket, and thus no longer connected properly.
The solution?
Blu-tac.

I like to think of myself as a reasonable individual. Sure I have a tendancy to argue with people in other countries over which fictional character in a given entertainment product is 'better' and I have a mousepad that cost more than the average user's mouse but by and large, taking into account my hobbies and upbringing, I'm generally pretty stable.

But every now and again I find myself, usually because of a set of improbable circumstances, doing something utterly retarded.

A week or so ago my 360 went all Anakin Skywalker on me and starting giving me shit every time I turned it on. This didn't bother me at first because there was nothing coming out that month with the exception of Tales of Vesperia which I honestly couldn't give a flying shit about. But earlier, with a few big games on the horizon, I found myself in desperate need of an 360 and so I took the liberty of attempting to fix my hulking white box.

Each step I've tried seemed reasonable at the time but now I stop for a moment (for a Biscotti, aren't I totally cool?) I realize that I am, unfortunately, entirely fucking retarded. Behold my xbox 360.

Yes it is turned on.

Does anyone else have any ridiculous contraption fixing stories?
Mine Gott! dude wtf? that poor 360, good luck, yer gonna need it. my 360 is kinda dead at the moment too, second time(although it is my fault) so im just gonna get an arcade xbox and attatch my hard drive, FTW!
