I'm intrigued, what's it like? beyond being a fantasy rpg
It's a multiplayer game where you and 4 teammates (either selected by a matchmaking system or a pre-arranged party of friends) take on 5 opponents in a game of DOTA. There is no story, but there's something like 35-40 different characters with different items to build in game to make them stronger, attack faster, do more spell damage, etc. And you have to rely on your teammates to win. I love it, it's a great way to kill an hour or 6, and best of all, it's FREE.
I tried downloading it but it didn't work *sad face*

Big le snip.
Thanks for the read, it was quite interesting. I'll probably check it out sometime cause some of that information sounded good. I also wanted to know how often they update it compared to LoL. So how often do they realease characters compared to LoL? (which releases one every 2-3 weeks) do they fix bugs when they come up or in large patches like LoL? Do they release different maps or are they like LoL where they may release a new map once every blue moon while your in spain and have to be wearing pink underwear?

The one thing that I'm glad to hear is that the sort of "I win so I'm the best" attitude isn't as there as much as LoL. Man I can't stand it. It's only a feew people but a lot of them take it too seriously because, come on, if you lose, big deal, you've only lost a game. No need to lecture me on how to play.

Antway thanks for the read.

Oh oh, I'm looking for the same. Having a heard time to find an awesome RPG that ain't aged back to oblivion and looks like my doodling from the time I was eating ants. Most RPGs in our time are either crappy when you look at gameplay or crappy because it has loads of bugs. Mostly because RPG games come from studios with low budgets. I liked Mass Effect, but it was too much "pew pew lazorz" for me. Meh, considering how I nitpick everything I probably have to wait for the next new Elder Scrolls.

But do PM me if you find anything good though, I'd love to give it a shot atleast.

So far, they have released Tundra, Bubbles, Gladiator, Gauntlet, Fayde, Balphagore.. I think that's it. They have plans to release more but they want them balanced first so they take a bit longer. This is just the "new" heroes they have released. Most heroes are ports from DoTA with changes to them, some are original and some are created by the community, like Gauntlet. HoN also has "Dream" where players can create and share their hero designs with the community and the top heroes gets ported into the game.
http://dream.heroesofnewerth.com/ if you're interested.

About the "I win so I'm the best"..well, every game has those and HoN is no exception to that rule. HoN suffered a lot from a bad community at the start but they have been good with the "report a player" function. Suddenly everyone went from "stop feeding you god damn asswipe, I'll rape you, your mother, your sister and your fucking dog, assshole" to "could you please stop dying so much? It makes the other team get gold and experience from you"

About the updates, they come every now and then, you can play the test client if you want and see the patches before they are released. They often patch a lot when they patch, making some small and some major changes to the game. About new maps, no new maps have been released. But they have not released the offical map editor yet either. It's in your game files, and you can create new maps with it. But you can't play them in-game yet. Once it is released though, I bet we will see loads of new maps and game modes. Just like Warcraft 3.

S2 has said that they will give players trial keys for their friends, which lasts for 10 games so they can try it out. Depending on how many we get and when, I'll be glad to share one with you, if I can remember you by the time they are released.
