I need a good fantasy RPG (or hell, any RPG)

So while I like to think I know a lot about which games currently exist in the current universe I know for a fact the internet will always one up my knowledge.

Because of this I am (humbly) asking the Escapist if it has any good RPG's in their brains for me to play. Preferably something like Kingdoms of Amalur or the Elder Scrolls if possible, if not I'll take anything that has stats and levels.

That said please no MMO's or JRPG's. I'm not bashing these genre's I just don't like them personally.

Just to avoid redundancy these are the games I have played or own and haven't gotten to

Skyrim
Oblivion
Morrowind
Kingdoms of Amalur
Fable (1,2, and the one that shouldn't have happened)
Dragon Age 1 and 2
Baldurs Gate
Baldurs Gate 2
Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2
Planescape: Torment (Haven't gotten around to playing it though)
Demon Stone (Haven't gotten to this one either)
Dragonshard (Again, haven't gotten to it)
Demon's Souls
Dark Souls
Mount and Blade (All of them)
Divinity Two
Mass Effect Series
The Witcher 2
The Witcher
Deux Ex
Deus Ex: HR
Jade Empire
Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
Torchlight
Torchlight 2
Diablo (1, 2 and sadly 3)
Alpha Protocol
Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas
E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy
Borderlands 1/2

Thanks for reading and I hope you help me out here Escapist

And since it's going to anyway this can also be a "what's your favorite RPG" thread.

A long list there so can't think of anything you haven't got already. Only one that pops in my mind is Xenoblade only thats for the wii and I think it's a JRPG officially (although the combat is not like a traditionally JRPG).

....shit son, you've played everything! :)

Alpha Protocol is usually my go-to for unknown RPG but you've already taken it...

This might not be what you're looking for but I can only think of two not on your list (both tactical RPG's)

Valkyria Chronicles (has an anime style but certainly not a JRPG)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

I absolutely ADORE these games (far too much to be healthy....I might need help). VC is a PS3 exclusive and XCOM can be bought on PS3/360/PC

If you're not going to look into JRPGs, then you're probably SOL unless you want to start looking back at games from the late 80's/early 90's, and a lot of them sucked. You could check out the other D&D games that were made around the time of Baldur's Gate; Icewind Dale, its expansion and its sequel; Temple of Elemental Evil and the other Troika games - Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

EDIT: Missed that line in the OP.

But you've gotten most of the really good Action-RPGs already without looking into JRPGs.

EDIT 2 - Return of the Edit: You could check out Darksiders II. The story is related to Darksiders, but the game itself is an Action-RPG instead of Legend of Zelda-esque Action-Adventure like the first one was.

Arcanum is sorta nifty, it's in the Fallout/Baldur's Gate vein with a steampunk meets fantasy setting. It's pretty cheap on GOG

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is a fantastic fantasy game. It doesn't have levels, but it does have stats and the such-like. And gameplay can really change based on your clan, the faction you side with and of course your dialogue.

Just make sure you get patches for it. It can get pretty buggy.

Dungeon Siege should be here.
Gothics 1-3, might take a bit to run some of them, but they're worth it imo.
Legend of Grimock
same with Chantelise, Recettear and Fortune Summoners
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
There's also Risen and Risen 2.
Sacred one and two.

..Those are the ones that come to mind for me anyway. They vary in quality, and aren't exactly like TES.

The list gets much longer if you just go with "has levels" but..I'll leave just the list of RPGs for now.

Err, Valkyria Chronicles is about as Japanese as they come. Hell, the 3rd game hasn't made it out of japan due to low US sales of VCII.

Arcanum [http://www.gog.com/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura] is my favourite of the isometric-era RPGs. It's basically Fallout in a fantasy/steampunk setting. The other RPG greats (in my opinion) that I can see missing from your list are:
- Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
- Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
- Arx Fatalis

Anachronox might also be worth a look, though it has a very slow start.

It has an Anime art style but I don't think it's JRPG. Granted, my definition of a JRPG has always been Final Fantasy like (everyone takes turns smacking the other guys. Then we wait our turn while they smack us. There is no movement, no dodging, no nothing; just two opposing sides hitting each other until one goes down).

I've always had three definitions for RPGs:

JRPG (Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, etc.)
WRPG (Skyrim, Knights of the Old Republic, etc.)
Tactical RPG (Fire Emblem, XCOM, etc.).

Each one can have elements of one or the other but I judge it on the game-play, not the style. Of course, that's just my way or looking at it so maybe the OP would agree with you if he decides to take a chance and go for it.

Aside from things others have listed... Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, the Geneforge series, and Two Worlds 2(The first one sucked but the second is alright)... And pretty much everything else that comes to mind has been listed.

I'm gonna throw in my vote for <link=http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Zeboyd%20Games>Zeboyd's games. They're dirt cheap and their comedic stylings are, frankly, unmatched in the genre. They do take cues from old-school 16-bit JRPGs- especially in the art department - but don't be offput by that. Especially not for the price.

They did Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World, which is a 2-pack on Steam for a measly $3; and the third Penny Arcade: On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness episode, which is also on Steam. I have it on good authority the combat and party systems in Penny Aracde are by far the best they've done, but there's a lot of fun to be had with Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World. And did I mention they're only $3 because y'know that's kind of important. (Penny Arcade I think is $5, still worth it, but two great old-school-styled RPGs for $3? You'd have to be some kind'a idjit to pass that up!)

Well the only thing I can really think of is The Two Worlds series and the Risen series. I have mixed feelings about them but you could probably grab them pretty cheap, and you seemed to have played all my other go to recommendations already.

I generally associate tactical RPGs with Japan, due to the large amount of time I've played Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy tactics Advance 1/2, Orge tactics, SMT: devil survivor, VCII, etc. whereas I've never played any XCOM. But I agree with you.

Arcanum
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Ultima 7 + Serpents isle
Sid Meier's Pirates!

You mentioned NWN2, but if you haven't played the expansion: Mask of the Betrayer. Then you definitely need to play that.

Other ones might be considered RPGs and might not. They definitely have RPG elements and it's really debatable what is and isn't an RPG. Games that might apply would be:
Batman Arkham City
Batman Arkham Asylum
The Walking Dead
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Witcher 2 and Xenogears are the best in my mind.

Xenogears is a old JRPG that has more to do with religion and such, the older JRPG are much better then you think hell Final fantasy 9 hole theme was about dealing wit death!

Depending on how old-school you're willing to go, maybe you could give the Ultima series a try? U4 is free on GOG, you could give that a go before dropping any money on the series.

A few you have missed.

Icewind Dale 1 and 2 available on GoG and very similar to BG as it is another Black Isle series from the Forgotten Realms.

Temple of Elemental Evil,a pure dungeon romp with the same D&D rule set as the above. If I remember there is a nasty bug in this game but it may have been fixed since I played it but then that was in 2003/04.

Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity.

As someone has also mentioned the Fallout games. I prefer the second of them just because some of the side quests are so funny and having a skill competition with a mutant crab is just brilliant.

None of these games are short and the Icewind Dale games have a lot of mods as well.

Just checked all of these games are available thru GoG.

I'm not gonna recommend you a new one, I'm just gonna advise you to replay Dark Souls, because that is the end-all of RPGs, and the only one that will ever surpass it will be Dark Souls 2.

Hopefully.
